We are seeking a Senior Marketing Communications Specialist for the end-to-end project management of communications that help educate members about their pharmacy benefit services. Role is responsible for managing creative for all formulary disruption consumer communication campaigns sent to both OptumRx direct clients and UHC members in the employer & individual market. The work performed by this role is critical to the expansion of targeted formulary marketing to increase member uptake of under-adopted strategies, short - and long-term pharmacy termination campaign corrections and enhancements, digital preference promotion and other PBM marketing efforts. This role will design, develop and deploy marketing communications and campaigns to reach PBM members while still meeting client and mandated requirements. The Senior Marketing Communications Specialist position requires strong project management skills and experience leading and executing creative projects across multiple channels. This role will manage several projects simultaneously, identify and initiate process improvements, and engage cross-functional teams to meet deliverables and deadlines. It will also build relationships with internal stakeholders and support a consumer-centric approach in the development and execution of member communications across all lines of OptumRx business.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end creative build and execution of communication projects - this includes defining stakeholder requirements, creating content, incorporating stakeholder revisions, providing clear direction to creative partners, adhering to internal and external communications standards, routing for final reviews, and ensuring timely delivery of work product
  • Contribute towards communication strategies that fulfill business needs; add value to strategic brainstorming sessions; provide suggestions for the development of tactical deliverables and translate objectives in a well-articulated creative brief
  • Develop and present strategies or creative briefs to leadership and key stakeholders to achieve buy-in, gather insights and facilitate the evolution of new or existing communication projects
  • Assist with campaign or communications project reporting; monitor the execution of communications projects, report on outcomes and performance against targeted KPIs
  • Develop communications tailored to specific medium and audience requirements; demonstrate excellent writing abilities and instinct in adapting to style and tone to meet the needs of the message, audience or channel
  • Help identify, initiate and report on process improvements that streamline the fulfillment of communication deliverables and enhance bandwidth for new project streams; document processes and educate team members on new systems
  • Manage project expense - gather estimates, obtain approvals, track costs against budget and submit invoices for payment
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define communications needs while aligning to the needs of the business and member experience best practices
  • Monitor feedback on communications and address questions or concerns as appropriate; follow up with internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain communication assets using established protocols for managing communications inventory; interface directly with print and fulfillment teams
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of marketing or communications experienced with a matrix organization
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Exceptional problem-solving and organizational skills with ability to report on and manage multiple projects effectively
  • Travel up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cross-functional team experience working in a complex, matrix organization, preferably in a healthcare environment or with a creative agency
  • Excellent writing, proofreading, verbal and presentation skills
  • Ability to be flexible and work with ambiguity
  • Self-managed but able to work both independently and with a cross-functional team

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $64,800 to $116,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
