We are seeking a seasoned Senior Manager of Finance, Infrastructure to lead the management and optimization of Liftoff’s cloud infrastructure costs. This role will report into the VP of FP&A and demands a strategic thinker and strong leadership qualities who can guide cross-functional teams in the effective management of substantial cloud spend across major cloud providers.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the development of strategic cloud cost management plans that align with Liftoff’s overall business goals
  • Foster strong collaboration across finance, engineering, GTM and other key departments to ensure a holistic approach to cloud cost management
  • Develop cost management processes, KPI, mechanisms and controls to provide ongoing cost transparency and governance
  • Engage with Finance, Engineering & GTM leadership on current AWS spend, performance & trends
  • Become an expert in the underlying business/cost drivers impacting a complex tech stack
  • Work directly with cloud provider account and technical teams, proactively raising cost/performance concerns
  • Champion proactive cost management practices, embedding these principles across the organization across the org
  • Utilize advanced analytical skills to dissect complex billing data from cloud providers to identify and execute cost-saving opportunities
  • Oversee vendor incentives and guidance for incentive application (e.g. Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, credits, Spot instances, etc...)
  • Monitor ongoing cost management compliance
  • Communicate cost management strategies and outcomes effectively across all levels of the organization through weekly detailed reports and presentations

Our ideal candidate has:

  • 7+ years of experience in technology and financial management roles with direct involvement in large-scale cloud environments (managing monthly cloud spend of $1M+)
  • Experience working directly with Engineering leadership & summarizing technical cloud initiatives for a non-technical audience
  • Experience working with AWS or other cloud vendors and a deep understanding of their cost structures and discount mechanisms (nice to have)
  • Experience in financial analysis / working with one or more of cloud costing tools such as Cost Explorer, Cloud Zero, Cloudability, Cloud Health, etc. 
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a focus on attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of cloud vendor  committed usage discount mechanics and the pros/cons/nuances of each (e.g. reserved instances, savings plans, spot) and experience managing and analyzing them
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience delivering presentations to diverse audiences
  • Proactive approach and ability to work independently in a large organization
  • Relevant cloud platform certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are highly desirable
  • FinOps certifications is nice to have

Liftoff's Compensation Strategy

Liftoff's compensation strategy includes competitive market rate along with equity and benefits and perks that will give our employees what they need to do their best work. In order to ensure teams are compensated fairly for the work performed, we map out specific levels and take into consideration the cost of labor within each location. Liftoff provides employees a total compensation package of competitive market salaries, equity, health and wellness stipends, medical benefits associated with your country of residence. The base compensation will vary based on location, experience as well as level.

  • Zone 1: Base of 155K-195K with 15% bonus for TCC of $178,250 - $224,250
  • Zone 2: Base of 140K-180k with 15% bonus for TCC of $161,000 - $207,000
  • Zone 3: Baes of 130-170K with 15% bonus for TCC of $149,500 - $195,500
