Join our Microbiology Division as the Sr. Manager, Global Transportation, where you'll orchestrate the strategic direction and operational execution of all our international transportation activities. In this pivotal leadership role, you'll handle a substantial freight budget exceeding $40 million and guide a team of 2-3 professionals. You'll partner closely with warehousing, logistics, customer care, planning, sourcing, and manufacturing, ensuring seamless and coordinated transportation strategies. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Vision & Execution: Craft and implement global transportation strategies that align with the Microbiology Division's business objectives and our overarching supply chain vision. Drive significant cost savings by developing and implementing impactful freight reduction initiatives. Proactively identify, communicate, and mitigate potential risks, including regulatory compliance, capacity constraints, and geopolitical factors. Stay ahead of industry trends, new technologies, and standard processes to champion continuous improvement. Establish key performance indicators (critical metrics) to measure transportation efficiency and find opportunities for optimization. Financial Stewardship: Own and handle the global transportation budget, ensuring meticulous adherence to financial targets. Lead contract engagements with non-corporate transportation providers, including carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers. Leverage data analytics to identify cost reduction and process improvement opportunities within freight spend. Develop and present comprehensive financial reports and analyses to senior leadership. Collaborate with the Finance Partner to develop the Division's Annual Operating Plan. Team Empowerment & Growth: Lead, mentor, and empower a successful team of transportation professionals. Cultivate a collaborative and accountable team culture passionate about continuous improvement. Conduct meaningful performance reviews and support the professional development of team members. Ensure the team is proficient in all transportation-related software and processes. Operational Perfection: Coordinate day-to-day global transportation operations, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods. Develop and implement robust transportation policies and procedures that ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to company standards. Act as a trusted partner, ensuring consistent service levels and performance standards. Implement and optimize transportation management systems (TMS) and other enabling technologies. Drive measurable improvements in timely delivery and minimize transportation-related damages. Collaborative Partnerships: Cultivate collaboration across internal teams, including other strategic direction groups (SDGs) and divisions. Serve as a key liaison between the Microbiology Division and external transportation providers. Lead and chip in to cross-functional projects and initiatives aimed at improving supply chain efficiency. Collaborate with customer care and QARA to resolve customer-facing transportation issues. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred. Proven track record of success in global transportation management. In-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and transportation standard processes. Confirmed experience leading significant transportation budgets. Outstanding leadership, communication, and social skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment. Experience in the medical device, life science, or pharmaceutical industry is highly valued. Proven track record of leading and developing teams.
