Job Description

Role Senior Linux Administrator Location Houston, Texas (Remote) Type Full time Job Duties and Responsibilities Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned Typical day will involve monitoring management of system resources managing DR backup and restore procedures resource upgrades monitoringmaintenance of security vulnerabilities work collaboratively with development teams Other duties include intermittent client support of VPN access, automatic SFTP file submissions and others similar. Writing scripts to automate all infrastructure processes, troubleshooting servers, MySQL, Apache, PHP, RoR. Position requires an in-depth knowledge of Linux and experience with large scale system architecture. This position is about creating improving documenting processes performing triage on any number of random issues that may arise at any given time. Must have good written and verbal communication skills. Be able to think critically and think outside the box to solve issues, or create solutions. Individual must be self-motivated and have a can do attitude. Job Requirements Must have at a minimum, Level III, experience working for large hosted environments such as HostGator, Rackspace, or equivalent. Significant Experience in AWS Compute solutions. Ability to manage a large number of servers efficiently and through automation. In-depth understanding of the entire LAMP stack Experience with Ubuntu Linux Experience with Linux Command Line Experience with Apache, including configuring virtual hosts and suphp Experience installing and configuring Nginx Experience with Linux user management Experience with bash andor Perl scripting Experience with ElasticSearch Experience with ProxySQL Experience with monitoring multiple servers in a production environment Knowledge of DNS, DNS records, and functionality Knowledge of networking, including network configuration and subnetting Knowledge of Linux file systems, symlinks, permissions, owners, groups, and chroot Experience partitioning, formatting, and mounting file systems in Linux, as well as the fsck tool Experience with BIND and DNS zone files Basic understanding of PHP and ruby on rails, understanding of PHP configuration Experience with MySQL including database and user management Willingness to look things up and learn something new every day
