Growing tech consulting firm headquartered in Chicago is hiring for a Java Software Architect! Ideally this person comes from a consulting background and will be able to jump into the role both feet. They will be responsible for project estimation/scope, architecture, project team efficiency, communication, deployment and QA. This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday with a flexible core hours policy to accommodate early birds and night owls. This position requires mentoring, coaching, and the issuance of feedback for teammates.

Job Details
Required experience:
- At least 7 years of professional experience. It is preferred that at least 2 years will have been in a client consulting capacity.
- Experience as a Fullstack Java Developer working with Java (8+) + Spring Framework + Spring Boot along with React/Angular or other frontend
- Experience with an application rewrite or modernization effort
- Experience building RESTful APIs and working with microservices
- Experience using a Git-based code / CI/CD tool like BitBucket
- Experience working with cloud technologies such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Lead Experience - having past technical leadership of a team
Preferred:
- Bachelor or Master's Degree in Computer Science with continued education
- Experience using a code quality tool (SonarQube, CheckStyle, gradle, Maven, APIs (REST), JetBrains Toolset (IntelliJ, RubyMine, Rider, etc)
- Experience working with Kafka or Kinesis
- Experience with unit testing (JUnit, Mockito)
- Experience with SQL databases and experience with NoSql databases a plus (MongoDB, Redis)
- Experience with messaging systems (ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ)
