Job Summary

We’re looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer with a backend focus to join our growing team and help power the systems behind our AI-driven learning platform. This role will work closely with product, frontend, and AI teams to build and maintain scalable APIs, services, and data pipelines that support real-time simulations, insights, and reporting.

You’ll play a critical role in designing and delivering backend infrastructure that enables seamless user experiences and performance across the platform. While the role leans heavily backend, familiarity and comfort with modern frontend frameworks is important for collaborating across the stack.

Key Responsibilities

Backend/API Development:

• Design, build, and maintain performant, scalable APIs and backend services using modern frameworks and tools.
• Work with Postgres and other data stores to model, manage, and optimize application data.
• Implement integrations with modern platforms and third-party services (e.g. Paragon, Tray.io, etc.)
• Implement authentication, authorization, and integrations with third-party services (e.g., WorkOS, etc.)

Data Engineering & Infrastructure:

• Build and maintain data pipelines that power user analytics, insights, and reporting.
• Work with the product and AI teams to define, structure, and store data used in simulations and feedback loops.
• Contribute to infrastructure automation and deployment workflows (CI/CD, monitoring, observability).

Collaboration & Product Development:

• Collaborate closely with other engineers and product team to ensure smooth end-to-end functionality.
• Participate in technical planning, architecture discussions, and code reviews.
• Help define and enforce backend engineering best practices and documentation standards.

Testing & Quality Assurance:

• Implement and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure consistent quality and reliability of code.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues, and proactively work on solutions to enhance user experience and performance.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation:

• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in frontend development.
• Drive continuous improvement by suggesting new ideas, tools, and processes that will elevate the frontend experience and overall product quality.
• Utilize AI tools like GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and more to enhance code quality, build prototypes and accelerate development.

Qualifications

Experience:

• 5+ years of experience as a backend or fullstack engineer, building production systems and APIs.
• Experience working in modern TypeScript environments (Node.js, Express/NestJS).
• Strong familiarity with relational databases (Postgres preferred), ORMs, and query optimization.
• Comfort working with modern frontend frameworks (React/Next.js) as needed.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in designing RESTful APIs
• Experience building and deploying services in cloud environments (AWS)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and infrastructure-as-code tools
• Data pipeline or analytics tooling experience is a plus.

• Strong problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented approach to writing high-quality code.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous learning and improvement.
• A creative and experimental mindset with a proven history of using new technologies and techniques to enhance processes and improve quality.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with TypeScript across the stack.
• Familiarity with AI-powered or simulation-based applications.
• Exposure to tools like WorkOS, Paragon, and GitHub Actions.
• Experience working in an early-stage SaaS startup or fast-paced product team.

Compensation: $120,000-$150,000, based on experience and qualifications
