Job Description

Primary Location:West Fargo, ND or Bismarck, NDOther Location:Sioux Falls, SDRapid City, SDVirtual- Remote options availableEssential Functions Apply engineering principles and standards to perform and direct tasks as the Engineer of Record for municipal water process engineering projects involving water supply, water treatment, wastewater treatment, groundwater remediation, water reuse, biosolids, stormwater treatment, conveyance, and storageEnsure proper engineering practices and techniques are used by design team or project team by providing direction, review, and supportServe as technical resource/lead on projects or tasks for large scale projectsDemonstrates competency in multiple project phases (planning, design, construction, etc.)Leads design tasks and construction administration/observation activities as a Professional EngineerLead Quality Assurance and Quality Control reviews on large scale multi discipline projects to ensure compliance with KLJ quality standardsInstruct, train and mentor group membersParticipate in and facilitate meetingsUtilize effective written and oral communicationResponsibilitiesServe as Engineer of Record (EOR), discipline lead, and/or Project ManagerLead client management strategies for targeted, regional clientsManage multiple project teams ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budgetResponsible for providing technical expertise on one or more areas of a wide array of discipline specific projects/project elements including municipal water and wastewater facility design and operation including treatment process evaluation, process selection, and plant lifecycle cost optimizationProvide general engineering support to our clients on treatment plant operations and processesPerform process and hydraulics systems modeling and scenario evaluationsProvide client consulting services including issue resolution associated with plant design, maintenance, construction, equipment and operations/optimization.Provide input on business development efforts in collaboration with the water Market teamConfer with project team members and clients to lead, prepare, and participate in project proposals and interviewsQualificationsBachelor of Science Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Civil/Environmental Engineering from an ABET accredited post-secondary institutionExperience in process development, conceptual design, or process support with experience in municipal water and wastewaterUnderstanding of federal, state and local regulations and requirements related to water treatment and dischargeProfessional Engineer licensure is requiredDemonstrated competency with markets, clients and projects of specific service offeringMust have a valid driver's license and be able to operate motorized vehicles.Preferences:Project Management ExperienceHours and TravelThis position requires the individual work 40+ hours per week with 75% of the time spent in the office and 25% out of the office.Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
