Their engines power aircraft in every major sector, including transport, combat, patrol, trainers, helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles.THE OPPORTUNITY:We are looking for a Senior Data Architect to advise on data strategy and architect an enterprise-wide framework and blueprint for setting up an enterprise cloud data solution. The environment is distributed and heterogeneous by nature, consisting of multiple business units that have developed their own data infrastructure over time. We're looking to create an approach, framework, and strategy that are technology agnostic, supports the broad range of data sources in real-world experience.POSITION SUMMARY:As Senior Data Architect, we expect you to analyze and assess the data ecosystem, ranging from legacy/on-premise data sources to cloud-based and SaaS services. Based on this assessment, you will draft a framework, strategy, and vision for a data mesh that makes our data infrastructure available enterprise-wide on an on-demand basis via a data catalog. Your solution framework will address data architecture, data governance, and tools/platform recommendations. You will also provide recommendations on a proposed approach and blueprint suitable for select teams to implement this vision in the back half of 2021.WHAT YOULL DO: Collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders, incl., CIO office, and partner organizations/business units Analyze current data infrastructure and designs Capture end-users requirements and align technical recommendations to the business objectives Architect an enterprise cloud data solution vision and framework and create a blueprint for a select group of teams to deliver the first step of that journey, based on industry design patterns and hands-on experience Assist in architecting a workflow for management of data access and operations from our backend system Make recommendation on our data migration and integration processes, as well as data architecture standards, procedures, metrics, policies, security guidelines Explore emerging technologies vendors and provide recommendations for new tools and processes. Make recommendations on team skills and capabilitiesTECHNICAL SKILLS: 5+ years professional experience in Data Architecture roles leading, designing, and implementing Cloud Data strategies, including designing multi-phased implementation roadmaps Practical hands-on experience in architecting and implementing enterprise data mesh (including typical roadblocks and challenges) a big plus; experience with cloud migration from data warehousing to data lake a plus; Strong experience with dimensional, relational, and transactional production database systems (SQL, noSQL, MySQL, Cloudera Hadoop) a plus Strong experience in working with large, heterogeneous datasets in building and optimizing data pipelines, pipeline architectures, and integrated datasets, and data warehousing; demonstrated ability to work across multiple deployment environments including cloud, on-premises and hybrid, multiple operating systems and through containerization techniques; Be versed in Cloud solutions (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, Snowflake cloud) or Big Data solutions and related technologies Strong experience in working with data governance/data quality and data security teams Adept in agile methodologies and capable of applying DevOps and increasingly DataOps principles to data pipelinesABOUT THE HIRING PROCESSQualified candidates will be invited to do a screening interview with the Braintrust staff.
