Description

The Senior Coding Educator identifies opportunities to improve provider documentation and creates an education plan tailored to each assigned provider. The Senior Coding Educator work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

Responsibilities

The Senior Coding Educator reviews and analyzes internal data, medical records and arranges educational sessions with providers aimed at quality of care, documentation and coding improvements for multiple assigned provider groups. Begins to influence department's strategy and process improvements. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments working with multiple departments within the enterprise.

Required Qualifications
  • High School degree or higher
  • AAPC CPC (Certified Professional Coder) Certification required
  • Working knowledge of ICD-10 CM guidelines
  • Comprehensive knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Problem solve complex issues
  • Exceptional interpersonal, public speaking and presentation skills
  • Guide business and leadership in process improvement
  • Medical record review knowledge
  • Knowledge of billing / claims submission and other related functions
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and to effectively manage projects simultaneously
  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
  • Valid driver's license with ability to travel up to 50% of time

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • AAPC CRC (Certified Risk Adjustment) Certification
  • Previous experience educating providers


The ideal candidate should live in the Central IA/Eastern NE area. It is a work at home position with the possibility of travelling up to 50% to provider offices within posted area (Central IA/Eastern NE) once deemed Covid19 Pandemic safe to travel.
