One of our companies is currently looking for a Senior Chemical Process Engineer in the United States or Canada.
In this role, you will play a crucial part in advancing the mining industry's approach to mineral processing by evaluating and implementing innovative technologies to process and refine ore. You will design and implement tests with processing partners, optimizing processes like flotation, leaching, and hydrometallurgy. Working closely with metallurgists and commercial teams, you will identify environmentally optimal and cost-effective methods to process ore from KoBold's projects and contribute to the sustainable energy transition.
Accountabilities:
- Identify and evaluate emerging mineral processing technologies suitable for ore produced by KoBold.
- Develop technoeconomic models to compare different mineral processing technologies from first principles.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (exploration, metallurgy, mine engineering) to assess technology tradeoffs.
- Simulate and model process flows from ore to final product, optimizing efficiency and performance.
- Lead the development of KoBold’s proprietary process modeling tools and identify new technology development opportunities.
- Build and manage partnerships with vendors to customize and implement chemical processing solutions.
- Design and evaluate laboratory tests to understand performance implications and scale results for industrial use.
- Present findings and collaborate with external partners and stakeholders to drive technological advancements.
Requirements
- Advanced degree in the physical sciences or engineering, with significant post-degree work experience as a chemical or process engineer.
- Proven track record of scaling chemical processes from bench scale to production.
- Expertise in first principle thinking, technoeconomic modeling, and process control methods.
- Strong background in experimental design, laboratory analysis, and process evaluation.
- Excellent communication skills for working in a highly interdisciplinary environment.
- Ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Passion for continuous learning, innovation, and problem-solving.
- Experience with commercial process modeling software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, METSIM) and modeling in Python is highly desirable.
- Experience in geochemical and mineralogical data analysis, pyro and hydrometallurgy is a plus.
