Job Description

IntroductionThe Senior Business Systems Analyst works with Corporate IT, Accounting, and Contracts & Procurement (C) counterparts and is responsible for the requirements, high-level design, testing, documentation, and support of new and existing business systems with the goal of improving the company's business systems.The Senior Business Systems Analyst will interface directly with staff in the Corporate office located in Albuquerque, NM, however the position can be staffed at another ARA office or a remote location. The ideal candidate will be able to work with minimal supervision and be flexible enough to work in multiple roles in a challenging IT and business environment.The position requires the analyst to understand and document the existing business systems processing used within the Accounting and C groups, manage the upgrade and implementation cycle for our ERP (Deltek) and other dependent business systems, recommend new processes or systems based on industry and organization trends all within the constraints of the business calendar and security requirements as a Defense Contractor.What you'll do as a Senior Business Systems AnalystManage business partner application lifecycles: understand Accounting/Contracts/HR strategic plans and the roadmaps of our major vendors (Deltek, Concur, UltiPro) staying one step ahead of impactful changesWork with end-users to define functional and non-functional business requirements in sufficient detail to manage projects for existing business systems or implement new systemsProduce detailed business use cases and sufficient test cases to drive a reliable QA process that you will leadAct as primary liaison between IT and the business systems end users and coordinate business system enhancements and upgrades with IT and their partnersResponsible for analyzing business system problems, including understanding the ERP's underlying data model and directly querying reporting database tables to find root cause if necessaryImplement and support business workflows and approvals within Deltek CostpointProvide level 2 production support for business systems; escalate and manage support issues at vendor partners through resolution and communicate with end-usersHelp define and maintain business system security roles using Role Based Access Control across all business systemsResearch and document alternatives for existing systems and new solutions as directed by the businessManage software projects with moderate complexity (upgrades, new modules, new software implementations)Document data integrations required for existing and new business system implementations and test solutions delivered by engineering effortsSenior Business Systems Analyst RequirementsApplicants for the Senior Business Systems Analyst position are required to possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Information Systems or a computer or business-related field . (Experience may be counted in lieu of degree; two years of experience is equivalent to one year of college).Seven to nine years of related business systems analyst experienceAbility to produce and understand business process diagrams (black-box, swim lane, etc.)Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle processes and have experience managing software projectsUnderstanding of Logical and Physical Database diagramsExcellent troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve issues quickly and effectivelyPossess demonstrated experience resolving complex business and application problemsAbility to work well in teams with excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skillsAble to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with co-workers and perform all duties in a courteous and professional mannerAbility to self-manage and prioritize tasksAbility to work collaboratively to solve technical and security related challengesSenior Business Systems Analyst PreferencesMaster's Degree in Information Systems or another computer or business-related fieldExperience supporting Deltek applications - Costpoint, Cognos, Time and Expense, etc.Experience developing and supporting Costpoint Workflows and Content Management Integration with SharePointExperience working in an IT ticketing support systemExperience with UltiPro HRISExperience with SAP Concur Travel Booking and Expense SoftwareExperience with an Enterprise Planning & Budgeting Software (Unanet, Adaptive Planning, etc.)Company & Division InformationApplied Research Associates, Inc. is an employee-owned international research and engineering company recognized for providing technically superior solutions to complex and challenging problems in the physical sciences.
