The Tax Operations Manager will oversee Fortitude Re’s tax function, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations. This role involves managing tax reporting, including the preparation of its quarterly and annual tax provisions, planning, and compliance within the organization. This role reports to the Deputy Director Tax Operations.

What You Will Do:

  • Review of the company’s quarterly and annual tax provisions and related footnote disclosures under ASC 740 and SSAP 101 Ensure adherence to all tax controls and any other protocols, including the preparation
  • Ensure workpaper files are in an audit-ready state for potential future examinations Review of U.S. federal and state income tax return workpapers
  • Review of quarterly and extension tax payments
  • Review of sales and use tax returns and other non-income tax filings Communication with the company’s U.S. tax service providers regarding information/data requests
  • Review of responses to a tax authority’s questions and requests
  • Review of underlying conclusions and documentation for discrete projects
  • Provide guidance to Senior Tax Analyst and Tax Analyst

What You Will Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • An MBA or a master’s in taxation is a plus 
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CMA (Certified Management Accountant), or other relevant certifications is preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in tax operations, preferably in a corporate tax department or public accounting firm (Big 4 audit firm)
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations Insurance tax experience and familiarity with tax issues for multinational financial institutions is preferred, but not required
  • Must be a self-starter
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in tax software and financial systems
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
