JOB SUMMARY:
  • A Scrum Master II consistently demonstrates the qualities of a servant leader and enables teams to deliver via effective Lean-Agile practices. They cultivate a culture of trust, promote decentralized decision making and advance the development of self-organizing teams.
  • A Scrum Master II effectively facilitates all Agile ceremonies and enables progress toward team Iteration and Program Increment objectives. They coordinate with other internal and external teams to resolve dependencies, identify and eliminate impediments, and facilitate flow.
  • A Scrum Mater II focuses on continually improving team dynamics and performance. They help the team manage interpersonal conflicts, challenges, and exploit opportunities for team growth. They provide ongoing coaching and of the Lean-Agile Principles and ensure teams maintain a Lean-Agile Mindset.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Scrum Master participates, facilitates and manages the outputs of all agile ceremonies. These ceremonies consist of Daily Stand Up meetings, Sprint review, sprint retrospective, sprint planning, backlog refinement sessions, prepare for Program Increment Planning Sessions. They also participate in the Scrum Master Communities of Practice, Scrum Mastery Sync Sessions and Agile Release Train Sync Sessions.
  • The Scrum Master demonstrates strong communication, facilitation and presentation skills. The Scrum Master has a responsiblity to help coach and influence the team. They have intermediate coaching capabilities - able to coach on practices and procedures, soft-skills and Lean Agile mind-set. With occasional support from RTE and others resources they will guide the team through the decision making process and teach the team techniques on how to problem solve, improve communication, self-manage and self-organize. With occasional support from RTE and others resources, Scrum Master supports a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged. They will also help manage interpersonal conflicts, challanges and opportunities for growth within the team. They have the ability to apply SAFe principles to facilitation, enablement, and coaching for a single team.
  • They have the ability to organize and lead a Community of Practice.
  • Scrum Master demonstrates ongoing thirst for knowledge and a desire for continuous improvement. They create an environment for continuous learning and are pursuing everything Agile (e.g. visit user groups, attend conferences, read books, write blogs, etc.). Scrum Master continuously works with the Scrum Master Community of Practice to ensure standard procedures are in place and ultimately improve the organizations' product delivery capability. They maintain their Agile certifications (SAFe Agilist, SAFe Scrum Master, SAFe for Teams and SAFe for PO PM). In addition, the Scrum Master seeks advice and works occasionally with the Release Train Engineer to resolve challenging issues, risks, conflicts or impediments as well as best practices. They have beginning to intermediate knowledge and experience with Behavior Driven Development and Test Driven Development.
  • Act as a point of contact for everyone in the team and their stakeholders regarding Agile. Aids the Team and Product Owner in their efforts to manage and sequence the backlog. In addition, they are able to lead moderately complex teams - work has routine external team impact or dependencies: value stream is well defined and may have multiple system integration points. Able to eliminate impediments and resolve issues with occasional support from Release Train Engineer or other resources. Able to resolve and manage dependencies with occasional guidance from Release Train Engineer or other resources. This will assist in the ability to build a high-performing team and foster relentless improvement at the Team level. Improving team performance in the areas of quality, predictability, flow and velocity. In addition, the Scrum Master has the ability to identify SAFe anti-patterns and resolve with occasional support. Scrum Master has the ability to apply SAFe principles to facilitation, enablement, and coaching for a single team.
  • Scrum Master has intermediate knowledge of Kanban, Scrum and XP. In addition, they have intermediate knowledge of tools used in Agile (e.g. Rally). They have beginning to intermediate experience using tools to create metrics that measure and report on team performance, backlog health and continuous improvement.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent or specific relevant experience;
  • SAFe Certified Scrum Master or obtain within 6 months of hire
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an Agile environment or 4+ years of experience in a project environment
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Scrum Master role or 1 year in Scrum Master Level I or 4+ years experience in servant leader role.
  • Able to lead moderately complex teams - work has routine external team impact or dependencies: value stream is well defined and may have multiple system integration points.
  • Able to eliminate impediments and resolve issues with occasional support from Release Train Engineer or other resources.
