Job Description

As a Release Train Engineer (RTE) you are responsible for Agile Release Train process and execution. The RTE role combines the skills of an experienced Program Manager with those of an Agile Coach in SAFe practices. The successful candidate will escalate impediments, manage risk, ensure value delivery, and help drive relentless improvement. The RTE participates in the Lean-Agile transformation, coaching leaders, teams, Scrum Masters and Product team members in new processes and mindsets. They help configure SAFe processes to the organization's needs, standardizing and documenting practices. The RTE is driven to pursue and lead relentless process improvement for our organization. In this role the RTE will work with Product Management leaders to understand strategic product roadmap and lead the incremental delivery of business value in collaboration with application development teams, product management, security, business process, and other technical services. Responsibilities Uses broad expertise, knowledge, and lean-agile principles to resolve complex issues contributes to development of department objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways. Leads operational, tactical, and strategic activities across the organization. Manage and optimize the flow of value through the Agile Release Train (ART) using various tools, such as the Program Kanban and other information radiators. Establish and communicate the calendars with for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs) Facilitate PI Planning readiness by fostering a Continuous Exploration process which drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, and Backlogs, and through Pre- and Post-PI Planning meetings Facilitate PI planning events Leads operational, tactical, and strategic activities across the organization. Manages, directly or indirectly, the coordination of planning activities across the organization with responsibility for results in terms of key performance metrics. Summarize Organizational PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives and publish them for visibility and transparency Throughout the life of a Program Increment, owns the tracking the execution of epics and features Anticipates and identifies risks to delivery or the agile health of the organization, recommends solutions, works with the department andor organizational leaders to suggest and implement solutions. Assist with economic decision-making by facilitating feature estimation by teams and the roll-up to Epics. Formally and informally, coach and mentor across the organization in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets Help manage risks and dependencies that affect preparation, execution, and delivery of the Program Increment Provide executive escalation and tracking of impediments Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks Foster collaboration between teams and ArchitectsEngineering Work with Product Management and Center of Agility Empowerment, as well as other Senior or Executive stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment Work within the Agility and Empowerment on program execution and operational excellence Understand and operate within Lean Budgets Facilitate Scrum of Scrum events to understand Program Increment overall health. Coach through solutions where health is in jeopardy. Drive relentless improvement via cross-organization retrospective workshops Using Agile principles, defines, develops, communicates, and implements standards, processes, and procedures across the organization. Utilizes thought leadership to build in cross-training culture across the organization. Includes fostering Communities of Practice and the use of engineering and Built-In Quality practices Facilitate activities across the organization to support the commercial readiness of features Hosts executive briefing to provide overall health and status toward achieving business objectives. Equal Opportunity EmployerDisabilityVeterans Qualifications 1 + years experience as an acting SAFe Release Train Engineer Certified SAFe Release Train Engineer or Certified SAFe Practitioner 3+ years of experience in IT using Scrum Methodology Current Scrum Master Certification ( or Scrum Alliance) 1 year Practical Experience in Scaled Agile methodology and principles Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future. Experience using JIRA or similar project and issue management tools for work management to include backlog grooming, assigning sprint work, etc. Bachelor's Degree Required Preferred 3 years practical experience in Scaled Agile methodology and principles Experience using Kendis andor Portfolio Atlassian Tools for Program or SAFe PI Management Track record of continued and recent education in Scrum and Kanban, including training, conferences, user groups, self study, etc. Knowledge of other approaches discussed in the Agile space XP, Kanban, Nexus, LeSS, SAFe, Crystal, FDD, etc. Knowledge andor experience with widely successful Agile techniques User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games Previous experience as a collaborative leader.
