Job Description

As the Residential Appraisal Mortgage Underwriter, you may look forward to:Reviewing mortgage loan files for completeness and data integrity.Evaluating borrower's credit and capacity to repay the requested loan.Evaluating the collateral securing the requested loan and determining acceptability.Reviewing mortgage loan files for compliance with regulatory, investor, bank and agency guidelines.Making the credit decision to Approve, Suspend or Deny the loan and issuing approval within timeframe established by TBM procedures.Completing all necessary forms to comply with regulatory, investor, bank and agency guidelines.Completing Underwriting Approval and providing to Loan Officer, Processor and Closer.Recording appropriate data and status into processing system.Mentoring and supporting processors.Supporting Originators as a resource for questions.Other duties as needed.Obeying all applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations relating to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).You are a person that (required skills):Has a complete understanding of Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, VHDA and NC Housing underwriting guidelines.Has at least 1 year of recent mortgage loan underwriting experience.Has working knowledge of real estate lending criteria and federal, state and agency compliance.Is able to multi-task and manage time efficiently.Has strong organizational skills, attention to detail and basic Microsoft Office skills.You'll be better prepared if you have (desired skills):VA LAPP, DE authority and VHDA underwriting certification.Physically you can anticipate to:Express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word via email and verballyExert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, use your arms and legs, and sit most of the timeHave close visual acuity to perform activities such as analyzing data, viewing a computer terminal, reading, and preparing documentationNot be substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditionsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential responsibilities of this job.
