Beyond BookSmart is an Executive Function coaching company whose mission is to help individuals successfully meet today's challenges, using tools that will benefit them long after they have stopped working with us. Primarily through 1:1 coaching, we use the work our clients currently face to teach them how to manage their time and attention, plan and prioritize, and become more organized, all so they gain confidence and become willing to take on ever-greater challenges. Our Corporate Headquarters is in Needham, MA. We employ hundreds of highly credentialed, part-time coaches nationwide and have a much smaller, full-time staff on the core business team. We provide online coaching throughout the United States and around the world.

Job purpose

The Research Assistant (RA) supports the Research and Development Manager with research projects related to Executive Functioning across all stages of development, including but not limited to: conducting scientific literature searches and reviews, consolidating information, data management, and maintaining files.

Core responsibilities

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Under the general direction of senior research staff, support research projects.
  • Conduct scientific literature reviews.
  • Manage and respond to project related emails.
  • Summarize and analyze project results.
  • Prepare other articles, reports, and presentations, as requested.
  • Attend project, Professional Development Team, and/or Professional Development events, as scheduled and requested.
  • Provide ready access to all research for the Lead Research Coordinator and/or Professional Development Team.
  • Follows all company policies as outlined in both the Beyond BookSmart Employee Policy & Procedures.
  • Embodies and, thereby, models the company mission.


Qualifications

Job requirements:

2+ years of qualitative research experience is a plus.

A minimum of High School Diploma or GED.

Prior coursework in research design/methodology and strong research skills.

Ability to synthesize information and be able to distinguish facts from theory.

Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices.

Excellent written and verbal skills.

Strong interpersonal, listening, and communication skills.

Excellent time management skills and organizational skills.

Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to consistently make progress on multiple on-going or long term projects.

Must be able to work independently and be resourceful.

Ability to review and edit own communications to ensure that they are free from errors.

Must have an up-to-date working computer to perform job duties.

Proficiency in Word, Excel & PowerPoint, Google Docs & Sheets, video conferencing, and texting.

Must maintain confidential and sensitive written and oral communication for all employee, client and business-related information.

Must have one hour of consistent daytime availability daily Monday-Friday. Other hours to be available as needed depending on needs.

Ability to work from home in a distraction-free environment (must have a reliable computer, internet, and phone).

Working conditions

We expect this position to require between 5-10 hours per week and not to exceed 10 hours without written permission from the Research and Development Manager.

Must be able to sit for potentially a long period of time in front of a computer/laptop monitor, and frequently use your home or cellular phone. Work can be done at home.

Compensation:

Hourly starting rate $15-18/hr based on experience
