Job Description

System Z Technical Support Specialist - 4 needed

  • Serve as Customer Advocate

Description:

As part of an elite, Accelerated Value Program, perform and enable remote technical support of IBM z-series software, and solutions for a U.S. State Government:

  • Provide technical support assistance to client and/or field support using problem determination/problem source identification skills.
  • Provide Incident Management using root cause analysis.
  • Provide Change Management with guidance on prerequisite technical requirement and impact analysis.
  • Employ specific processes and tools to plan, track, monitor and report resolution activities and progress.
  • Use technical and negotiation skills in collaboration with other support operations/organizations to prioritize and diagnose problems to resolution.
  • Communicate action plans to the client or IBM representative as appropriate.
  • Recommend and implements new or improvements to existing technical support tools, procedures, and processes. May provide training for and mentor others on the team.
  • Monitor security issues identified with z-series application and proactively notifies clients on security issues and resolution.
  • Must be the customer's advocate and utilize the customer's business perspective when looking at the systems/solution/enterprise view of any situation.
  • Interface with multiple levels of client personnel and must maintain and enhance positive and constructive client relationships.

Required skills:

  • 5-7 years of experience in z-series Level 2 Customer support and/or 5-7 years of experience in Labs Services deploying and upgrading z-series systems.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and experience with the following z-series elements:
    • DB2 z/OS
    • COBOL
    • ISPF
    • JCL
    • MQ
    • CTG
    • z/OS
    • CICS
    • WAS z/OS
    • Hyperswap
    • zLinux
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Excellent client facing communication skills
  • BS degree in Computer Information Systems, or relevant experience
  • Start Date: January 2022
  • Project Duration: 3-5 years, full time, U.S. regular business hours (occasional off hours support possible).
