At O'Reilly Auto Parts we are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our growing team and help us continue our automation journey and enhance the developer experience. A DevOps Engineer is responsible for building and automating performant and resilient infrastructure that our business depends on. In this role you will have the opportunity to contribute in one or more areas including (but not limited to) better automating our virtualized infrastructure, supporting containerized infrastructure, or helping with cloud infrastructure. To support our team you will need to be experienced, driven, and have strong coding skills in automation. You will be collaborating closely with peers and customers which means you need to be an active listener, detail oriented, and a clear communicator.
What You'll Do
- Take a leadership role in designing, building, implementing, and maintaining infrastructure
- Mature the automation efforts of the lifecycle of a server including onboarding, patching, and sunsetting
- Help development teams onboard applications to Kubernetes infrastructure
- Build and maintain kubernetes infrastructure
- Use and administer automation tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Rundeck, Terraform, and Flux CD
- Write documentation and provide training around automation tools
- Ensure all authored code is well documented and version controlled appropriately via git
- Resolve escalated issues and perform root cause analysis for complex issues
- Support development teams by ensuring the supporting CI/CD infrastructure is performant, stable, and kept up-to-date
- Interact with both internal and external customers during all project phases, from planning to maintenance
- Be mindful of customer needs and clearly communicate complex information
- Demonstrate a high attention to detail, examining every aspect of the system
- Exercise strong time management skills by taking on multiple projects simultaneously while debugging issues reported by customers
- Be attentive to communication and productivity tools ensuring inquiries are responded to in a timely manner
- Recommend system improvements and changes to systems, as needed
- Participate in an on-call rotation including nights/weekends
Required
Skills and Qualifications
- 3+ years of Devops Engineer or similar experience
- Advanced understanding of Linux
- Advanced knowledge, including 3+ years of experience, in one or more of the following areas
- Kubernetes
- Infrastructure as Code, specifically managing Puppet or Ansible
- Cloud Infrastructure, specifically Azure
- Experience working with automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Rundeck, Terraform, or Flux CD
- Experience with one or more scripting languages, specifically YAML, Python, Bash, and/or Ruby
- Experience using version control tools such as Git
- Experience implementing and managing middleware (Tomcat, JBoss, etc.)
- Ability to articulate advanced technical concepts and teach others
- Ability to write advanced technical documentation
- Advanced problem-solving skills
- Good verbal and written communications skills
- Must work well in a team environment
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Willingness to work on-call rotation including nights/weekends
Desired
- 2+ years of experience with terraform
- Experience writing and debugging Perl scripts
- Completion of Bachelor's Degree
- Experience administering container environments
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins or Azure Pipelines
- Familiarization with istio, harbor, and helm charts
- Experience working in an Agile environment
- Experience with Atlassian tools including Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket
