  • Minimum 5 years in a Development role focused in Data Modeling, conceptual and logical
  • Strong knowledge of structured and non structured database systems and data mining
  • Database expertise around, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Mongo, or Cassandra
As a Data Architect at Nelnet, you will help build the next generation platform in the lending industry. You will work closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters and other team members to better understand their needs in order to create new products that will impact the life of millions of customers. You will participate in the development of cloud native products using microservices architecture and other leading edge technologies and practices. Your duties may include preparing architect reports, monitoring the system, and overseeing and executing system migrations. To succeed in this role, you should know how to examine new data system requirements and implement migration models. The ideal candidate will also have proven experience in data analysis and management, with excellent analytical, problem-solving and collaboration abilities.

- Design and implement effective database solutions and models to store and retrieve data.
- Examine and identify database structural necessities by evaluating client operations, applications, and programming.
- Assess database implementation procedures to ensure they comply with internal and external regulations.
- Prepare accurate database design and architecture reports for management and executive teams.
- Oversee the migration of data from legacy systems to new solutions.
- Monitor the system performance by performing regular tests, troubleshooting and integrating new features.
- Actively seeks to remain technically current and increase expertise and abilities.
- Recommend solutions to improve new and existing database systems.
- Educate staff members through training and individual support.
- Offer support by responding to system problems in a timely manner.
