Job Description

ERM is seeking a self-starting, dynamic Remote Sensing Scientist to join our consulting team in Washington, DC. As part of our Geospatial Team, you will provide high-quality analytical support to ERM clients while working closely with junior and peer team members, and in collaboration with and support of senior team members. Assignments will be primarily desktop work but will include domestic and international travel on occasion. Advanced remote sensing skills are required. The successful candidate will be a highly skilled and confident user of scripting languages and geospatial software platforms (both desktop and cloud-based), and should have the ability to prepare applications and documents that are essentially client-ready. This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring mid-level consultant looking to advance his or her career level with a global sustainability leader, and to do so in collaboration with a wide array of ERM Subject Matter Experts.RESPONSIBILITIES:With limited senior supervision, provide creative and fit-for-purpose technical analyses in collaboration with Subject Matter Experts in other fields and with other technical backgrounds.Provide geospatial planning for field activities associated with environmental, social, and sustainability projects.Provide technical consulting skills to support the growth of ERMs service offerings using ESRIs full suite of desk and cloud-based geospatial applications.Explore and learn about new analytical approaches and software to develop new geospatial client offerings.Assist with the preparation of geospatial methodology sections for reports and proposals.Work within, and guide others in working within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.Complete work assignments in accordance with ERM's management system, format and quality standards, and guide others in doing likewise.REQUIREMENTS: BA/BS or Masters degree in a related discipline.3-6 years of experience.All candidates should have a demonstrated interest in the business consulting type of work.Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols.Effective written/verbal communication including client communication skills.Strong organization/analytical skills.Experience with conducting quantitative analysis using full suite of ESRI software as well as other software such as Tableau, ENVI, ERDAS, and IDRISIProgramming skill in Python, Java, or similar, and API developmentExperience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports with limited supervision.Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel internationally, and work independently with minimal supervision.Demonstrated attributes to become a strong senior consultant team player, eagerness to learn and grow, self-starter who takes initiative, versatile, and service-oriented mentality.Foreign language (particularly French or Spanish) and cross-cultural experience, although not required, would be desirable.Who We Are:As the worlds leading sustainability consulting firm, ERM is uniquely positioned to contribute to the environment and society through the expertise and energy of our employees worldwide.
