The PositionOur Kansas City, MO based client is seeking to fill a Remote Mortgage Loan Underwriter role. The successful candidate will be responsible for underwriting residential mortgage loans to support lending decisions and determine if the loan meets regulatory guidelines, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, Shelf, Portfolio and delegated investor products for investment quality. Also, making final loan decisions within written approval authority in accordance with appropriate guidelinesThis position comes with a generous salary of up to $85K plus bonuses and a full benefits package.Mortgage Underwriter responsibilities include: Ability to underwrite all conventional loan products and advance knowledge with self-employed borrowers. Assisting loan consultants, processors, and closers in meeting deadlines, structuring loans, and answering general questions. Provides written approvals/suspensions/denials to loan consultants and processors on their underwriting submissions. Performing timely reviews of loan submissions and conditions. Reviewing income and asset verification of applicants per underwriting guidelines. Analyzing credit, collateral, and accompanying documents to render sound credit decisions. Examining loan documents for accuracy and completeness. Analyzing complex financial reports/documents to determine applicant income and ability to repay the loan. Assessing applicant(s) credit to adhere to all regulatory, compliance, and investor requirements. Maintaining a current understanding of various documentation types, loan programs, as well as all overall general underwriting guidelines. Meeting production, quality, and service standards along with providing feedback to ensure quality. Assessing appraisal, title reports, and other documents frequent to mortgage lending. Five or more years' experience in mortgage credit underwriting along with DE, LAPP, and SAR certifications. Must have knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA streamlines and VA rate reductions, shelf, portfolio and delegated investor guidelines, and private mortgage insurance requirements. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively make decisions in an independent manner. Good organizational skills to accommodate involvement in multiple areas.
