Job Description

  • Are you an experienced Inpatient DRG Coder looking for a new opportunity with a prestigious healthcare company? Do you want the chance to advance your career by joining a rapidly growing company? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions - this is the position for you!

    Daily Responsibilities:

  • Work in partnership with another SME to review MS-DRG and CDI related publications
  • Follow scope of work (SOW) and process documents provided by partner SME
  • Review DRG Desk Reference publication and mark up hardcopy with changes based on v39 of MS-DRG Definitions Manual and FY2022 ICD-10-CM/PCS code changes
  • Review The Guide to Clinical Validation and Documentation Improvement for Coding publication and mark up hardcopy with changes related to appropriate clinical documentation practices and any code/code note or AHA Coding Clinic advice updates
  • Create Word insert files associated with mark up for content needed to update the publication
  • Verify all changes are made based on official source files or other references outlined in the SOW
  • Requirements:

  • HS Diploma/GED
  • Understand how to optimize MS-DRG assignment through encoder logic or manually grouping MS-DRGs through the use of decision trees
  • Understand MS-DRG surgical hierarchy, principal diagnosis/procedure selection, MCC/CC codes and how they will affect MS-DRG assignment and reimbursement
  • Understand MS-DRG relative weights and its effect on reimbursement
  • ICD-10-CM/PCS inpatient coding and/or auditing experience
  • Microsoft Word and Excel Experience
  • Be familiar with and know how to access CMS website to find MS-DRG and ICD-10-CM/PCS official files
