Job Description

We are excited to share this opportunity for seasonal employment with The Phi Beta Kappa Societys national office in Washington, DC. We are looking for one part-time intern to work remotely on a variety of projects.Program and Member Relations InternThis intern will work remotely with Phi Beta Kappa program staff and will assist with work at the heart of the Society celebrating and welcoming new members at the nearly 300 campuses around the country that have BK chapters. This is a year of challenges and also opportunities for our chapters, as we develop new capabilities for outreach and support, including an emergency fund to help defray student fees to enable all invited students to join. Phi Beta Kappa staff values the perspective that an intern brings as a student or recent graduate, and the intern will have the chance to contribute ideas to strategic discussions. In addition to outreach to invited students, the intern will also help develop member and volunteer engagement through BK's local alumni associations, assisting with targeted communications and newsletters, as well as support for virtual events. Duties will include:Supporting development and design of promotional materials and templates that will enable chapters to be visible in their campus communities and that will assist them in creating successful student induction events; this may include digital assets such as email copy, social media posts, video, digital brochures, and the like.Supporting local associations seeking to expand member engagement, particularly for younger members, with advice and assistance with promotion, event planning, website management, and other related tasks.Assembling and writing up programmatic examples and best practices to share among chapters and associations in the monthly newsletters to these key volunteer groups;Assisting with other Society programs on an as needed basis, including the Visiting Scholar program, the Book Awards and planning for the upcoming Triennial conference of the Society.Developing communications such as short articles, social media posts and emails to members using mass mailing software, as well as website updates: andCompleting a capstone project, and other duties as assigned.
