Your Opportunity New Relic is looking for an experienced architect to help design and build the next generation of instrumentation agents and integrations. If you have a passion for high-throughput (petabyte-scale!) data-ingest and processing, this may be the right job for you.New Relic's Instrumentation teams build the software that lives in a customer's environment to capture their observability data. This includes our agents, integrations and now our OpenTelemetry SDKs as well. In this role, you will have a key part to play in helping customers easily push data from any source into New Relic One.What You'll DoYou will coordinate engineering efforts across our agents, infrastructure, OpenTelemetry and Installation Experience teams. You will use your knowledge of engineering best practices to design the next generation of New Relic's instrumentation platform to be easy to use and open to all types of data.You will work with our agent teams to create awesome new ways for our customers to send data to our platform. You'll engage with our OpenTelemetry team to evangelize and push open standards across the company. You'll help build new ways of deploying our products to ensure customers have a great experience deploying our software.We have a globally distributed development organization with teams spanning a nine-hour swath of timezones. The only way to keep all those teams in sync is through written communications. You'll need to harness your excellent communication skills to facilitate a high level of collaboration.Your QualificationsMust-have:10+ years of technical leadership with high-performance engineering teamsExperience designing, delivering and operating high-scale distributed systemsCollaborative and able to successfully navigate dependencies between multi-functional teams within the organization to deliver resultsDemonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skillsNice-to-have:Experience with OpenTelemetry (maintainer or approver status would be awesome!)Experience with Observability platformsExperience with Open Source developmentFull-stack knowledge of distributed systems fundamentalsExperience in one or more of the following: Containers (Docker, Kubernetes), Java, Javascript, .Net, Go, Ruby, Python, PHP, C, OpenTelemetry, OpenMetrics, PrometheusPlease note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
