About the Product Operations Team
The Product Operations team at Toast is on a mission to empower our Product teams to build great products efficiently, effectively, and at scale. We remove obstacles, foster alignment, and help teams focus on what matters most—solving real problems for our customers. Operating at the intersection of Product, UX, Engineering, Marketing, and Customer Success, we ensure that teams are equipped with the right processes, strategies, and insights to drive meaningful impact.

About this Roll* (Responsibilities)
As Principal, Product Operations, you will play a pivotal role in enabling and accelerating Product teams. This role is ideal for a former Product Manager or Product Ops leader who deeply understands the craft of Product Management—someone who has built products, navigated complexity, and knows firsthand what a high-performing product organization looks like.

You will take a systems-thinking approach to improving how our teams work, helping them stay aligned, move fast, and scale effectively without unnecessary friction. Your work will focus on enhancing collaboration, improving decision-making, and ensuring Product teams have the right structures and support to do their best work.

You are a strategic operator with a keen ability to spot opportunities for improvement and drive change through influence rather than authority. You understand that great products are built by empowered teams, and you focus on creating the conditions in which they can thrive. In this role, you will:

  • Partner with Product leadership and teams to identify opportunities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our product development process.
  • Design, execute, and iterate on high-impact programs that improve how Product teams work. Examples include roadmap communication, release management, goal-setting frameworks, Product onboarding, and shared rituals.
  • Identify and remove friction points in collaboration between Product, Engineering, UX, and cross-functional teams to drive seamless execution.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to support Product Managers in improving their craft, including onboarding, frameworks, and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to Product teams, proactively spotting challenges and enabling teams with clear solutions.
  • Define and measure success for operational improvements, collecting and analyzing relevant data to refine approaches and drive continuous improvement.

Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)

  • 8-12 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years as a Product Manager or in Product Operations and Enablement.
  • Deep understanding of the Product discipline—you know what great product management looks like.
  • Strong leadership and influence skills, with the ability to drive change in a complex, cross-functional environment.
  • Systems thinker, able to design frameworks and approaches that work across multiple teams and evolving needs.
  • Exceptional communicator, capable of distilling complexity into clarity and engaging stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proactive problem-solver who takes a structured yet flexible approach to improving how teams work.
  • Passionate about enabling others—you care deeply about helping teams do their best work and creating an environment where great products can flourish.
