Zapproved is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join our growing legal software company. In this important new role, you will serve as a member and technical leader of our software development teams. This means planning and coding against complexity, pitfalls and opportunities in moving from discrete and legacy applications to a unified application and user experience.Create, build and deploy applications hosted in the cloud. You'll be working primarily in Angular and .NET Core frameworks, though a microservice model lets us experiment with others.Be a part of a team. We work in scrum teams, usually with 4 - 6 developers, QA, UX, and Product partners and do our best to follow agile practices and principles in our work.Create proofs-of-concept/mock services and data models of new features, technologies and frameworks to inform technical direction early before major investment.Regularly ask the question "What happens when" to help teams see new opportunities, edge cases, boundary conditions and other aspects of their designs.Establish and document standards for common engineering constructs such as security models, API schemas, wire/serialization formats and data model definitions across platform components and services.Mentor! Teach and learn from teammates to help us collectively build and iterate on our culture, process, skills and productCode! All too often, the most senior engineers get pulled into meetings and never get to do the job they love - which is create and ship software. This is a role that is hands-on and gets things done.Operate! Our teams own the end-to-end development lifecycle of their applications, including deployment, operations in the cloud, and participation in on call Engineering support rotation.What Youll Need:You've helped create a software platform that threaded new and legacy applications together for a great user experience10+ years software engineering experience in a high-level programming language such as Java, C#, PythonKnowledge of APIs and API structures such as HATEOAS, REST, serialization formats, cryptography/handshake protocols and other aspects of inter-service security, communication and performanceExperience building and deploying cloud infrastructureYou're a teammate and a teacher. You learn from the team around you.Experience working through ambiguity and rapid change to deliver working softwareExperience with agile methodologies and a desire to embody the principles they supportAbility to lead and explain technical requirements in a clear and concise mannerWhat Would Be Nice:Experience building and deploying cloud-native, but cloud-agnostic applicationsExperience deploying to multiple cloud environmentsWe are interested in every qualified candidate with authorization to work in the United States.
