As a Principal DevOps Engineer, you will provide expertise and technical leadership to the team of platform engineers that will provide global standardized technologies for containers, service mesh, event streaming, service registry, service discovery, API management, and configuration management. Recipe for Success - What's "in store" for the role Be a subject matter expert for one or more of the following technologies: Kubernetes, Service Mesh, Kafka Develop, test, deploy, and optimize Azure IaaS/PaaS IAC code (Azure DevOps) and configuration management code (Salt Stack) Contribute to establishing and maintaining a secure and well-managed environment in Azure Translate requirements into a technical design that best utilizes Azure and complementary technologies Partner with development teams to help engineer scalable, reliable, and resilient software running in the cloud Champion high availability for critical systems, and systematically root out single points of failure Ensure sufficient logging, monitoring, alerting, and other areas of observability for infrastructure with high-availability requirements Provide expert technical guidance and ongoing engineering design review to teams adopting core platforms Coordinate & facilitate cross-domain teams communication and resolve technical conflicts The Essentials In Your Cart - The required ingredients BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent. 8+ years of professional experience in software engineering or systems engineering fields 3+ years working in Azure architecture, configuration, and management Deep experience with Azure Cloud platform and Azure DevOps pipelines Deep experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, ARM/Bicep templates, etc Deep experience with configuration management tools such as Salt, Ansible, or Chef Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Service Mesh (Istio) Experience with one or more scripting languages You promote openness, diversity of opinions, and inclusive discussions at all times to evaluate a wide variety of ideas and perspectives in solving challenging problems You demonstrate clear decision-making in complex situations You communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders You exemplify high accountability, integrity, and resilience to maintain focus on both big-picture goals and milestones to get there Experience with monitoring systems and services, tracing, and logging Extra Spices - What you should bring to the table Eagerness to learn and work outside your technology comfort zone Ability to manage own work time and priorities in accordance with aggressive timelines and budgets Able to excel working in an Agile Development environment Strong technical aptitude to gain the respect of experienced, talented software developers Join Us at Our Table Peapod Digital Labs is a forward-thinking company with a strong legacy of innovation.
