Job Description

Job Summary: Systemizes the establishment, control and accuracy of all plant accounts, central office equipment and continuing property records. Ensures proper coordination of system work orders, central office equipment and inventory records with other departments and personnel. This position may be based in any of the Nemont locations or remote. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Reviews time allocations from payroll to ensure that the proper work orders are being charged. Maintains records of all materials used for work orders. Prepares and posts pertinent information and charges to work orders. Maintains continuing property records for each of the company's plant accounts. Maintains financial records of all telephone plant in accordance with the Uniform System of Accounts and regulatory requirements. Provides reports as required by Consultants/Auditors. Provides reports as requested by Operations Team members. Reviews project loan reports monthly to ensure that actual costs are within budgeted amounts. Provides plant information for various year-end reports for regulatory agencies. Prepares journal entries and reconciles general ledger accounts Review cash deposit receipts and reconcile back statements to journal entries. Additional Job Duties and Responsibilities Perform other duties and responsibilities as required to fulfill job function or as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must have some accounting experience, preferably in telephone plant operations. Must be familiar with automated records system, computer, and basic office machines. Able to understand telephone plant operations and terminology. Knowledge of day-to-day functions of telephone employees and accounting is preferred but not required. Knowledge of RUS accounting practices and regulatory requirement for telephone utility reporting preferred but not required. Knowledge of FCC Part 32 and 64 accounting requirements preferred but not required. Able to work accurately and efficiently with numbers, calculations, and detailed records with complete confidentiality. Able to work in team environment and interface with other departments in a positive/productive manner. Able to work under conditions of frequent interruption, paying close attention to numerous details. Able to maintain complete confidentiality of company records. Able to work with nominal supervision. Education/Experience Any combination equivalent to the following education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities would qualify. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be: BA/BS degree in Accounting or business-related field or minimum four years practical experience. Telephone experience a plus. Physical Demands Sits, walks, and stands intermittently during working day. Handles books, papers, and office equipment. Stoops and bends when using files. May be required to lift up to 15 pounds. Special Demands Hours regular; overtime may be required as needed. Occasional travel may be required.
