CPA Global is seeking motivated and independent Patent Analysts to work with us as independent contractors in support of a contract with the US Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO). CPA Global is the world's leading IP management and information Services Company with the insight, experience, and global expertise to create, protect, maintain, and maximize IP assets on a global scale.Our team has supported the USPTO by providing PCT Chapter I Search and Examination services since 2005 (formerly as Landon IP). As an independent contractor, you will be responsible for performing a comprehensive search and written opinion on the patentability of an array of diverse technologies.The duration of this position will only be through the end of the calendar year.Primary Responsibilities: On a weekly basis, accept projects with a defined due date based on your availability and the needs of CPA Global.Demonstrate the ability to read a disclosure quickly and understand the technical nuances which may potentially distinguish it from the prior art.Perform a comprehensive search to ensure the most relevant prior art is located and provide a logical and complete search history.Prepare a written opinion applying the most relevant prior art to the disclosure.Maintain proficiency with commercial patent searching databases and other proprietary databases of technical publications.Stay abreast of best practices and changes to search procedures via self-directed review of materials provided by CPA Global.Maintain consistent timeliness and superior quality of deliverables.Ensure compliance with CPA Global's Code of Business Ethics and Corporate ConductPrimary Requirements:Work Experience or Education required in one of the following areas:Chemistry - organic and inorganic chemistry, polymer chemistry, medicinal chemistry pharmaceutical chemistry, small molecular structuresChemical Engineering - process and reactor design, heat exchange, distillation, unit operationsPetroleum Engineering - oil and gas drilling processes and treatments, proppants, geologic surveying, environmental impact assessmentsMaterials Science and Engineering - synthesis and properties of materials, ceramics and composite engineering, alloys, nanotechnologyPrimary Qualifications: U.S. citizens or work eligible legal residents who have resided in the U.S. for at least the two previous years.Ability to obtain a Public Trust ClearanceBachelor's Degree (Master's or PhD a plus)0-3 years previous patent examining or patent searching experience is strongly preferred, though not required.In-depth knowledge of technical literature in the area of subject matter expertise.Extreme attention to detail required.Highly skilled developing a search methodology and in conducting searches.Strong time management skills and dependable in completing quality projects against deadlines.Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.To perform successfully as a contractor, an individual must have the following equipment/tools: A Computer running Windows Vista, 7, or 8 with the latest service packs and patches - OR - Mac OSX 10.5, 10.6, 10.7, 10.8.A Reliable, High Speed Internet connection: Cellular, Dial-up, or Satellite Connections are not permitted.A secure working location: Working from public areas is not permitted (e.g. coffee shop, caf or public library).Appropriate phone line and voicemail for business communication.DISCLAIMER:CPA Global is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
