A services company in California is currently seeking a new Payroll Specialist to join their team Remotely on a Part-time basis. In this role, the Part-time Payroll Specialist (Remote) will be responsible for owning the end-to-end payroll process for the company by overseeing the timely payment of employees and ensuring compliance with Federal and State wage laws, sick leave, etc.
Responsibilities:
The Part-time Payroll Specialist (Remote) will:
- Support end-of-month financial closing, annual audits, and prepare payroll reconciliation for the bank
- Assist in commission calculations and regular rate of pay based on state-level wage and hour laws
- Audit timesheets on a regular basis
- Follow up with employees/managers, as needed
- Oversee regulatory compliance with FLSA, state-level wage and hours, sick leave, wage statements, etc.
- Train and assist non-exempt employees with time tracking and reporting
- Research and resolve discrepancies in payroll information and documentation
- Ensure compliance with all garnishment, support orders, and unemployment claims
- Process changes in compensation, classification, etc.
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Payroll Process and/or Accounting experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, and/or a related field
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
- Experience overseeing Payroll for both hourly (non-exempt) and corporate (exempt) teammates, especially in California and Washington
- Working knowledge of UKG payroll
- Solid analytical, mathematical, and research skills
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
