Opportunity at a Glance:
The Paralegal is an integral part of the legal team, assisting on Intellectual Property matters across the entire organization. This individual will assist with managing the intellectual property portfolio/docket for Adtalem and its institutions. The individual will also assist with the general paralegal and administrative needs within the legal department of a global, publicly-traded education services company. As needed, the Paralegal will from time to time support other projects for the legal team, including corporate and mergers and acquisitions due diligence, etc. The ideal candidate with be experienced, highly organized and motivated, and be able to work well both as part of a team and independently.
Provide legal assistance to Senior Associate General Counsel and other attorneys.
Maintain and manage IP docket for public company and its education and other institutions.
Perform trademark searches and prepare and file trademark applications.
Perform copyright searches and prepare and file copyright applications.
Assist with building and maintaining a library of intellectual property research.
Create, update, and deliver internal intellectual property compliance guidelines for the company and its institutions.
Assist with due diligence matters and prepare due diligence responses and reports.
Respond to information requests and IP questions from colleagues outside Legal, including research of legal matters and historical information from company records and information from other departments regarding corporate entities and intellectual property.
Review documents and transmit information and documents to outside counsel and organization personnel with minimal guidance from supervising attorney.
Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest developments in intellectual property law and in other related areas.
Support other organization-wide and cross-institution/functional initiatives and projects as assigned.
Complete other duties as assigned.

Minimum of five years of paralegal experience in intellectual property law capacity, including at least two years in an in-house legal department.
Experience working in cross functional groups.
Well organized and efficient, and able to prioritize, multi-task and meet multiple deadlines in a short time frame.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
Flexibility and willingness to pitch in on unexpected projects.
High degree of self-direction and motivation with good teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
