About the role
Global Partners Digital (GPD) houses the Support Unit (SU) for the Freedom Online Coalition (FOC), an intergovernmental coalition of 38 member states who collectively advocate for the promotion of human rights online.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Officer to join the FOC SU team and contribute to the work of the FOC.
This role sits at the centre of a small and dedicated FOC SU team. You will be essential to supporting the team and the daily functioning of the FOC. With some previous administrative experience, you will support the efficient, timely and impactful delivery of FOC activities. This will include setting up and maintaining systems and processes, general administrative support, coordinating travel and logistics for FOC events, responsibility for meeting agendas and minutes, and supporting FOC communications. As part of the role, you will frequently be required to participate in meetings and events with government representatives.
With many moving parts, you will be a fast learner, able to juggle multiple work streams and changing priorities, be observant, take initiative and work with discretion. Some prior experience of working with government stakeholders is essential.

Salary: £30,000-£35,000 pa based on experience
Contract: 12 month fixed term contract (possibility for extension)

RequirementsResponsibilities
- Contribute to the effective development and implementation of the internal and external FOC POAs, working closely with the Programme Lead, FOC Support Unit;
- Support the efficient, timely and impactful delivery of FOC activities and day-to-day project management and admin including: task management; coordination of the FOC SU team; meeting agendas and minutes; stakeholder comms and information sharing; subgrant/supplier management; filing and data management; budgets and financial management; M&E activities and funder reporting;
- Support the development and implementation of internal FOC SU protocols and processes;
- Support the FOC’s engagement in relevant forums and processes as required;
- Support FOC member outreach and communications, managing the FOC inbox and contact and mailing lists;
- Support monitoring and research of relevant developments in the digital rights landscape, including multilateral processes;
- Support drafting and substantive inputs for a variety of FOC document;
- Support travel and event logistics, both online and in-person, including convening calls, arranging invitations, venue and catering, translation, travel bookings and logistics;
- Support the implementation of the FOC Communications Strategy, including:
- Assisting with the maintenance and updating of the FOC's website;
- Assisting with the development of FOC external communications outputs
- Assisting with running and monitoring of FOC's social media channels.
- Provide additional administrative support to the FOC SU team as required;
- Participate and represent the FOC SU and GPD in relevant external meetings, conferences and settings in a supportive capacity;
- Contribute to developing and managing networks and relationships with external stakeholders including FOC members and funders as well as partners, civil society, other governments, industry, the tech community, experts and suppliers to build the FOC’s and GPD’s external visibility and reputation;
- Coordinate and support the development and delivery of internal capacity building relating to your Function’s skills and expertise;
- Develop your project management knowledge and expertise, including GPD’s specific approach and systems and processes;
- Develop a good understanding of the GPD’s policy areas of interest;
- Support new business development and project renewals, as required, including contributing project ideas, research on potential funding opportunities and supporting the drafting of project proposals and budget development;
- Feed into strategic reviews and strategy development relating to both GPD and the Function as required;
- Help to foster a positive, supportive and collaborative culture at GPD.
Person Specification
Education / Qualifications
- An undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field
Experience and Knowledge
- A minimum of one year of experience working in a professional environment in a comparable role;
- Experience of working in an international or national bureaucracy, including international organisations and government administrations;
- Experience of working with a range of stakeholders including civil society, governments, the tech industry and funders.
- Knowledge of human rights and/or digital policy issues and relevant policy processes and forums (desirable)
- Experience project managing or assisting with grants and projects, including funder reporting and managing budgets (desirable)
