Job Description

**Salary Range: $34-45/hourly****Sign-on Bonus / Quarterly Bonus / Flex-Time / Benefits - Medical, Dental, Vision, Supplemental Plans, and 401k**SummaryThe Credit Underwriter is to issue credit decisions based on the documented borrower profile within the guidelines of the program and client requirements. Underwriters are to meet the minimum daily production goals plus clearing conditions and perform within department audit standardsEssential FunctionsUnderwrite residential mortgage loans in accordance with Conventional guidelinesInput of data and analysis of findings in Loan Prospector, Desktop Underwriter, Asset wise, other AUS engines, and OESIdentify and assess overall risk and potential fraud exposure resulting from clients' underlying business practicesMeet the minimum daily production goals plus clearing conditions and perform within department audit standardsReview of credit reports to determine credit patterns, current liabilities, outstanding judgments and collectionsReview of residential mortgage appraisal forms and calculations of Loan to Value ratiosAnalyze income from salaried, commissioned, self-employed, investments, fixed income sourcesAnalyze assets statements for all types of asset accountsEducationHigh school diploma required/GEDAssociate/Technical Degree PreferredExperience3-5 years of industry experience preferredEssential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities3- 5 years of recent frontline (manual and automated) underwriting experience with Conventional, FHA and/or VA Knowledge along with A Paper, B/C Paper, Non-Confirming and Conforming, and Sub-Prime residential productsIn-depth knowledge HVCC, guidelines and requirements along with all federal, state and local compliance regulations to include, Truth in Lending and Equal Credit Opportunity lawsIn-depth knowledge of the total closing function to include, underwriting conditions prior to closing, closing instructions and procedures, and RESPAUp-to-date knowledge in Fannie/Freddie guidelines, back end quality control and fraud audit experienceMust be able to use Desktop Underwriter (DU), Loan Prospector (LP) and other LOS (loan operations systems)Proficient with the suite of Microsoft Office productsInternet and strong written communication skillsAbility to handle multiple tasks and prioritize file loadsWorking ConditionsWork is performed in climate controlled indoor administrative office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate, depending upon office or meeting location.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. The employee frequently is required to remain stationary. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
