Job Description

Hyatt seeks an extraordinary data scientist to help build the algorithmic assets and features that Hyatt guests, members, customers, and internal users leverage to transform the guest experience and drive efficiencies across the operations of our business. In this role you will design and build the foundations of forecasting at Hyatt focusing on strategic and tactical forecasts for a variety of disciplines, ranging from top-level company KPIs to granular hotel-level forecast. You will operate in the intersection of Data Architecture, ML Engineering, and Data Science. You will be a part of a ground-floor, hands-on, highly visible team which is positioned for growth and is highly collaborative and passionate about data science. Applying the latest techniques and approaches across the domains of data science, machine learning, and AI isn't just a nice to have, it's a must.

The Role

Design, architect, and build Hyatt's Forecasting Platform on AWS with a focus on scalability, performance, and transparency.
Hands-on developer/architect and owner of internal code/processes which fuels our forecasting across a variety of products such as, but not limited to: loyalty enrollment forecast, hotel demand forecast, member penetration forecast, hotel labor forecast, driver analysis, anomaly detection, goal setting etc.
Work closely with data product team to define and build the forecasting roadmap and culture at Hyatt and evangelize for data-driven forecasting throughout the business.
Stay up to date with state-of-the-art forecasting research and how it can be applied to Hyatt's business.
Report on forecast accuracy, bias, and incremental business impact of forecasting products with a commitment to ethical data science.
Demonstrate holistic thinking, strategic agility, and leadership with all levels of the organization.
Lead and train direct reports as the function scales.

Master's degree in computer science, statistics, or related fields required.
5+ years of data science experience with a focus on forecasting, hospitality experience not required.
Expertise with AWS services and cloud architectures (Sagemaker, Serverless Stack, Amazon Forecast etc)
Expertise in Python and SQL, additional software experience preferred ie Docker, Spark.
Expertise in traditional and modern forecasting methods (ARIMA, RNN, LSTM, etc)
Expertise with time-series concepts (seasonality decomposition/adjustment, stationarity, auto-correlation etc)
Experience with the latest open source forecasting platforms preferred (Prophet, Orbit, Greykite, etc)
Experience with streaming data architectures.
Experience operating in an Agile Methodology environment.
Experience with DevOps and CI/CD concepts.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
