Receptionist — The Law Offices of James L. Arrasmith, A.P.C.

We're a fast-growing, California law firm, and we're looking for a warm, unflappable Receptionist to be the front door of our practice. When someone calls us, they're often having one of the hardest days of their life — a custody dispute, an eviction notice, a loss in the family. You're the person who picks up, makes them feel heard, and gets them to the right place. If you take pride in being the calm, organized, genuinely kind presence that holds the whole operation together, keep reading.

About the firm

The Law Offices of James L. Arrasmith, A.P.C. is a thriving firm serving clients across California in family law, landlord-tenant, civil litigation, estate planning, real estate, bankruptcy, personal injury, civil rights, appeals, and tribal law. We move quickly, we hold a high bar, and we genuinely care about the people we serve.

What you'll do:

  • Answer and route incoming calls with a friendly, professional tone, making every caller feel like a priority
  • Greet and direct prospective clients, schedule consultations, and keep our intake flowing smoothly
  • Manage the firm's main phone line, voicemail, and messages so nothing slips through the cracks
  • Coordinate calendars and appointments across attorneys and staff
  • Handle email and Slack correspondence promptly and clearly
  • Maintain accurate records and update client information in our case management system
  • Provide friendly administrative backup to the team wherever it's needed
  • What we're looking for
  • A naturally warm, polished communicator — on the phone, in writing, and over video
  • Exceptional organization and follow-through; you're the type who never lets a message go unanswered
  • Grace under pressure and genuine empathy for people in stressful situations
  • Comfort working independently in a remote environment while staying closely connected to the team
  • Solid computer skills and the ability to pick up new software quickly
  • Prior reception, front-desk, customer service, or legal-office experience is a big plus (but a great attitude and the right instincts matter most)
  • The tools you'll use
  • You'll work in a modern, cloud-based stack — including OpenPhone, Slack, PracticePanther, Adobe Sign, Dropbox, and Otter.ai. We'll make sure you're fully set up and supported from day one.
  • Required to work Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, and must have reliable transportation. Overtime will be required on occasion.
