Most of our employees reside in the DC metropolitan area and this is our preference for the candidate, but we encourage you to apply if you live outside this area. You'll be joining a well-established, agile-based team and playing a critical role in the design, development, and implementation of a new and growing web application that is utilized daily by U.S. Military Service members. This role will be focused primarily on front-end design and development, so yoursquoll need to have knowledge of CSS, Javascript, and basic UIUX principles. This is an exciting opportunity to play a big part on a small but impactful team, and to create something that will be used to improve the lives of United States Military Service members and Veterans! Responsibilities Partner with other members of the IT team to develop custom solutions for stakeholders and potential clients Define application objectives by analyzing requirements and envisioning system features and functionality Develop applications by coordinating requirements, schedules, and activities Create user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and Javascript (including modern JS frameworks) Assist in the development and implementation of CSS style guides Design and develop user interface elements, such as menus, tabs, and widgets Develop UI mockups and prototypes that illustrate how sites function and look Create original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches and tables) Participate in quality assurance and testing activities Perform other related duties as assigned Required Skills Abilities Bachelorrsquos degree in Computer Science, Design, UIUX (or related field) 1 to 3+ years of front-end web application design andor development, or UX experience Demonstrated experience with web applications and programming languages such as HTML, CSS, or Javascript Up-to-date knowledge of design software like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop Ability to work independently and self-manage deadlines of assigned tasks and projects Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detai lExcellent analytical, problem solving, and debugging skills All applicants must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship Benefits 401(k) with automatic 3 company contribution Profit sharing program Start with 18 days of PTO per year Work from home (company operates virtual workplace - all jobs are work-from-home) Medical and Dental Automatic coverage and enrollment into short and long-term disability plans and life insurance plan Solutions for Information Design (SOLID) provides social science research and analysis to support public policy decision making and web design and development support, including content development, web application development and database design and integration.
