Were part of Friends of the Earth International, a federation of groups working in more than 70 countries on todays most urgent environmental and social issues.To accomplish our mission, Friends of the Earth is working at the nexus of environmental protection, economic policy and social justice to fundamentally transform the way our country and the world value people and the environment.Friends of the Earths Economic Policy Program works to create a more environmentally sustainable and socially just economy by transforming the rules, incentives, and practices of the financial, economic and political system.Position SummaryThe campaigner will help to design and implement strategic campaigns to ensure the adoption of finance institution policies and practices that will help prevent or mitigate financing for harmful industrial activities that cause environmental, social, human rights, corruption and justice concerns. You will assist to shift financing to sustainable activities (such as appropriate renewable energy), amplify voices of affected communities and increase local and democratic control of financial systems and institutionsEssential FunctionsSupport the development and implementation of strategic campaign plans related to international financing (e.g., International Monetary Fund, World Bank, development finance institutions) in conjunction with the International Finance Program Manager.Conduct research and analysis to develop reports and articles, factsheets, and other campaign materials to educate decision makers, allies, opinion leaders, the press and the public.Effectively communicate and engage with Congressional allies, agency officialsExcellent written communication skills and comfort with presenting material to a wide range of audiences, including the public, the press, businesses and government officialsParticipate in and play a large role within domestic and international coalitions.Assist project-affected communities, especially from the worlds poorest countries, to amplify their voices.Represent Friends of the Earth before policymakers, in media interviews and at public events to support campaign objectives.Assist the International Finance Program Manager to support fundraising responsibilities as needed.Required QualificationsBachelors Degree or equivalent experience with domestic and international policy advocacyThree or more years of experience and demonstrated success in international campaigning and policy advocacy, preferably in the realms of international development, energy and climate change. .A demonstrated commitment to the environment and social justice.Knowledge and understanding of legislative and executive branch processes and strategic approach to both policy and politics preferred.Preferred QualificationsAbility to balance and successfully complete a wide range of campaign activities including policy analysis, advocacy, organizing, public speaking, research, and communications.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well within coalitions.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at once in a self-directed manner.Collaboratively engage as part of a fast-moving and results-oriented team, work in coordination with a diverse group of coalition partners from different backgrounds and countries, and work effectively in a changing environment.Excellent decision-making skills, professional initiative, time management, prioritization and networking skills, demonstrated initiative, flexibility and creativity.
