Remote eligible within M&T's footprint


While M&T Bank has had a very successful past, including posting 178 consecutive quarters without a loss (going back to 1976), the company is modernizing its operations in order to keep up, and ahead of, its loyal customers. In this Instructional Designer role, you will help drive transformation enterprise-wide through utilizing proven instructional design methodologies and various software development tools to create innovative learning solutions. As a member of a high-functioning virtual team, your goal will be to design, develop, and maintain training content that meets audience learning needs, content topic area, and audience location. You will leverage adult learning theory and industry-recognized instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM, etc.) using multiple delivery modes; including blended, facilitator led, and web-based training solutions.

What you will be doing:

  • Consult with Learning Consultants and Subject Matter Experts to conduct needs analyses for development of overarching training goals, requirements, and specific objectives to develop synchronous and asynchronous learning solutions

  • Leveraging agile design techniques develop text, graphics, animations, simulations, and assessment instruments for training solutions

  • Independently creates and manages development timelines and milestones to ensure all requirements are met to achieve project deliverables

  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand

Qualifications Required:

Bachelor's degree or certificate in Instructional Design with 3+ years' experience in training and development or instructional design

Technical writing and editing skills

Ability to author and edit content utilizing tools including Articulate Storyline or Adobe Captivate

Attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality outputs

Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills required

Critical thinking, creative problem solving, analysis, and synthesis skills

Skills in planning, organizing, and project management

Ability to work collaboratively and creatively in a deadline-driven environment

Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects at different stages, while meeting deadlines and quality standards

Ability to apply learning theories and instructional design models

Experience with Learning Management Systems

Ability to work well in a geographically dispersed team

Qualifications Preferred:

Advanced degree in Instructional Design, Curriculum Design, or Adult Education

Experience designing and creating web-based and/or video training for adult audiences

Experience in training and development, technology, financial and banking services

Provides oversight of work performed by external vendors as needed.
