Job Description

Global corporation seeks a team of Attorneys on a full-time, temporary basis. The position is fully remote and expected to last 30-60 days, possibly longer. The hourly rate is consistent and competitive with the market.

Primary Duties:

The Attorney will preside over administrative hearings involving unemployment insurance benefits. Duties include the following:

Preside over telephonic hearings that are fair in substance and appearance
Issue well-reasoned, timely decisions.
Maintain control of the hearing, which may include parties who are upset or are having difficulty understanding the proceeding
Ensure a clear and complete hearing record
Learn a variety of issues related to unemployment insurance claims including decisions under Vermont Chapter Title 3 V.S.A. Chapter 25. and other applicable laws consistent with due process requirements
Create a record and produce clear, logical, well-written decisions
Read or view exhibits and other relevant material in preparing for the proceedings
Analyze complex issues of Unemployment, some of which may be difficult and apply legal principles and precedents in making an unbiased decision

Requirements:

Licensed to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction
Knowledge of administrative rules, policies and procedures
Demonstrated ability to make timely and logical decisions
Proficiency in legal writing, including the ability to independently draft and edit legal documents
