Position Overview

The Finance Manager will own the day-to-day and strategic finance function for our growing business. Reporting to the CEO and supervising one finance admin assistant, this role keeps our books accurate in Xero, ensures timely and insightful reporting for leadership, and produces forward-looking forecasts that guide decision-making. The ideal candidate blends hands-on bookkeeping discipline with analytical skill and a collaborative style suited to a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and review bookkeeping in Xero, ensuring transactions are posted accurately and accounts are fully reconciled each month.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash-flow) with clear commentary on variances and trends.
  • Build and maintain rolling cash-flow and revenue forecasts, updating assumptions as new data emerges.
  • Coordinate annual budgeting and periodic re-forecast processes, partnering with department heads to capture drivers and cost plans.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable cycles, including approval workflows, payment schedules, and aged debtor follow-up.
  • Liaise with external accountants on statutory filings, tax compliance, and year-end audit requirements.
  • Implement and refine financial controls, process documentation, and policies to support scale and safeguard company assets.
  • Support strategic projects such as pricing analysis, scenario modelling, and system improvements.
  • Mentor and develop the finance admin assistant, delegating routine tasks and reviewing work for accuracy and learning opportunities.


Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Strong proficiency with Xero and related add-ons; experience migrating or optimising cloud accounting tools is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce accurate management reports and actionable financial analysis under tight timelines.
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills and familiarity with business intelligence or reporting tools.
  • Solid understanding of cash-flow management, budgeting, and forecasting techniques for service businesses.
  • Excellent attention to detail combined with the capacity to see the bigger picture and communicate insights to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in a growing, entrepreneurial environment where processes continue to evolve.
  • High ethical standards, discretion with sensitive information, and a proactive, continuous-improvement mindset.
