We are looking for a leader to join the North America Marketing leadership team, whose superpower is turning in-person events into pipeline opportunities for Sales. This leader will build and lead a team of event marketers, craft a compelling strategy, and execute the plan to exceed targets. The ideal candidate approaches events in a wildly creative, even unorthodox way, while bringing an elite level of operational rigour to program execution.

Youll work with a cross-functional team of leaders across Marketing, Sales, Merchant Engagement, and Partnerships to activate owned and unowned events throughout the North America region. Your experience running events of all sizes, care for details, and leading teams at a senior level will grow field events into a strategic growth channel for Shopifys Revenue organization. This is an ideal role for a strategic, data-obsessed, and curious marketer who knows how to be impactful across a large organization, at senior levels.

In this role you will have the opportunity to build a brand new marketing channel. Youll set the vision and will have an opportunity to have a high impact, fast. Youll look for ways to creatively and intentionally bring our mission and our merchants to the world.

OBJECTIVES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Build a compelling event strategy, plan, and annual budget designed to exceed pipeline targets

Collaborate with leaders across the organization to build in-person expressions of their strategy

Lead event staffing, training, and event logistics

Develop a deep understanding of the teams target markets and find ways to engage those markets through events

Build low-touch service model for field teams to execute local events

Work with marketing and sales operations to instrument campaigns, and report on ROI

*
Mange event execution to budget, and targets, all with an incredible level of care for details

*
Negotiate contracts with vendors in the best interest of Shopify
