About the role
The Jewellery & Precious Stones Expert is recognised for his/her exceptional expertise in the field and his/her outsized commercial network in India.
He/She contributes significantly to driving profitable growth with high impact for the category and beyond. He/She is a master in commercial and curation management thanks to the long-standing experience and can act as the core engine behind the successful development of the category business. The successful candidate can build strong working relationships with the team through guidance, coaching, feedback, best practice sharing and support. He/She does not have managerial responsibilities, is a member of the category team and reports to the Category Manager.
What you’ll do
- Build a strong commercial network within the existing and new sellers’ base active on Catawiki in the Indian market
- Leverage the understanding of seller needs and Catawiki commercial incentive schemes to create win-win solutions
- Provide quality assurance of auctions, by maintaining high standards of curation especially within the exclusive range of the category
- Elevate the team's curation by sharing exceptional expertise
- Leverage expertise through sharing knowledge at cross-departmental level
- Pro-actively propose improvements to quality guidelines, RP management strategies and other processes, and support the team in the effective implementation
- Monitor supply levels versus budget and recommending solutions where applicable.
- Contribute to the category commercial strategy in reaching weekly and quarterly budgets
- Encourage an inclusive environment by engaging and motivating the team
What you’ll bring
- Minimum 5+ years experience in a Jewellery & Precious Stones industry, specifically in the Indian market
- High specialisation in Diamonds (both Colourless and Natural Fancy Coloured) is a must
- Long-standing experience in Buying & Selling Jewellery & Precious Stones in the Indian market
- Solid understanding of ‘trade’ practices and commercial dynamics at International level
- Exceptional expertise in the field developed over the years of professional experience in combination with formal education: gemmology degree, from a well-recognised International Institute is required (eg. GIA, HRD, IGI).
- Deep knowledge of laboratory reports standards
- Confidence in handling challenging commercial dynamics and negotiations aimed at optimising inventories and maximising the category growth
- Deep knowledge of trade prices in order to comfortably assess, discuss or object (if needed) the quality of objects submitted with the team and with external partners (Sellers)
- Working in a target-driven environment
- Willingness to work remotely in a fully digital-based environment
- Customer-oriented approach
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English
