MapLight, a technology-driven nonprofit dedicated to improving U.S. democracy, is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our software development projects. This position is full-time and available for remote work from anywhere.This position reports to the President of MapLight, Daniel G. Newman.Typical software projects at MapLight include:Systems for state and local governments to provide groundbreaking transparency for campaign finance. Voters Edge voter guide, serving millions of voters with nonpartisan information about whats on their ballots. plug-ins to track and expose online political deception. activities of the positionOversee and manage MapLights software projects, working with our engineering firm partner to ensure our products are robust, scalable and delivered on-schedule.Work with the product and design teams to understand end-user requirements and deliver results.Contribute technically yourself, from architecture definition to product delivery.Collaborate with other MapLight staff on how technology can best meet our organizational and social impact goals.Requirements3+ years experience managing software projects with a track record of timely, successful product delivery.Excellent communication skills, including communicating cross-culturally and across time zones.Excellent project management skills.Self-motivated and detail-oriented.Proficient in one or more of PhP, NodeJS, MySQL, and .NET, able to make hands-on technical contributionsExperience with cloud services such as AWS or AzureExperience working in an agile development environment.Personal dedication to MapLights mission and work.About MapLightMapLight, founded in 2005, is a nonpartisan research organization that strives to create a government that (actually) works for the people by shining a light on digital deception, illuminating the influence of money in politics, empowering voters with nonpartisan civic information, and more.
