Job Description

What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the all-electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Provide critical vehicle program inputs which take into account Scout’s anticipated vehicle service strategy, desired customer journey, and cost objectives
  • Drive the development of vehicle repair concepts, with a focus on ease of repairability, high utilization of mobile service, and interest in leveraging the latest over-the-air update tools
  • Critically review all available vehicle technical specifications and existing service procedures, and offer actionable feedback for vehicle design, assembly processes, repair techniques, and service parts strategy
  • Partner with concept and systems engineering teams and suppliers to develop solutions to engineering, functional, and business challenges
  • Recommend, validate, and document new repair concepts
  • Coordinate parts component levels and parts availability and test planning for vehicle repairability preparation efforts at both the prototype and serial-production development stages
  • Participate in discussions regarding vehicle repairability with external parties such as suppliers, insurers, body shops, and tool providers
  • Coordinate with future Field Technical Support team to support in-field repairs and technical information dissemination

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. The role will be based out of a Scout Motors location in Detroit, MI metro area. Applicants should expect that the role may require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and be able to travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • 7+ years of relevant experience related to repair process engineering, vehicle diagnostics, vehicle maintenance and repair, and/or automotive service technology
  • Experience providing voice-of-customer product inputs, independently managing projects and reporting to executive-level stakeholders
  • Familiarity with vehicle service and repair processes in workshop and mobile environments and/or over-the-air OTA updates
  • Ability to clearly translate abstract and technical concepts into clear product specifications, repair processes, and engineering requests
  • Self-motivated ability to independently design, coordinate, and document maintenance tests to analyze and ensure effective and cost-conscious repair methods
  • Disciplined and structured approach to identifying, describing, and documenting technical issues and opportunities for improvement
  • Experience with authoring, editing or updating global vehicle technical incident databases to track issues and countermeasure developments
  • Comfort with the ambiguity and uncertainty that is present in early-stage startup environments, without losing focus on delivering results
  • Ability to communicate with, influence, and manage stakeholders toward desired outcomes without direct reporting-line authority
  • A team mindset, supported by excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work in a truly cross-functional and global environment
  • A strong desire to work at the cutting edge of electric, off-road vehicle technical design and process development
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study, such as Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, preferred

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. The salary range listed represents the maximum and minimum starting base pay for this position as of the time of posting. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary: $130,000 - $160,000
