Job Description Position Overview
The Migration Specialist serves as the technical specialist for EHR/PM practice data transitions, managing both new client implementations and existing client migrations from Classic to Plus EHR/PM systems. This role combines technical expertise with healthcare workflow knowledge to ensure smooth, efficient, and accurate data transitions while supporting practice staff through the change management process.
Key Responsibilities
Migration Planning & Analysis (50%)
- Create practice-specific data mapping documents to ensure proper data translation between systems
- Conduct thorough assessment of needs, workflows, and data requirements per the direction of leadership
- Develop detailed migration plans to ensure timely migrations of data
Technical Migration Execution (50%)
- Execute data extraction, transformation, and loading processes
- Perform comprehensive data validation testing to ensure accuracy and completeness Identify and resolve data migration issues, anomalies, and edge cases
- Document technical procedures for repeatability and knowledge sharing
- Coordinate with technical teams to optimize automated migration tools for specific practice needs
Required Qualifications
- Understanding of healthcare workflows and medical/billing terminology
- Strong technical abilities including database concepts and data validation methods
- Excellent project management skills with ability to manage multiple migrations simultaneously
- Outstanding communication skills for explaining technical concepts to non-technical users
- Problem-solving aptitude with ability to identify and resolve data discrepancies
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience specifically with EHR/PM migrations or system transitions
- Experience with SQL, data analysis tools, or healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR)
- Change management certification or experience
