What you'll do here:

The eLearning Media Designer, temporary position, will collaborate with ed2go's Learning Designers to develop online courses that are visually appealing, engaging, interactive, and support the learning experience. Ensure that our courses consistently reflect our standards of style, browser/mobile device compatibility, accessibility, and target audience.

It is essential that the employee exhibits a positive attitude that reflects the collaborative, entrepreneurial spirit of Cengage Learning.

Key Accountabilities:

Convert Word Documents into HTML/CSS that follow ed2go's style guidelines and insert into our Learning Management System.
Add HTML/CSS formatting to all classroom text, including pretest, lessons, supplementary material, assignments, quizzes, final exam, book recommendations, and recommended resources.
Take complex information and interpret into an easy to understand visual.
Create course illustrations and interactive assets to accommodate multiple platforms, mobile devices, products, releases, and Section 508/WCAG accessibility guidelines.
Design and develop online courses and assets that may include illustrations, animations, template-based games, interactive components, audio, and video.
Master design and multimedia skills by consistently following standards of style, house style guides, templates, and documented procedures. Demonstrate effective design skills by illustrating interactive courses while meeting deadlines and maintaining positive working relationships with all others involved in the development process.
Monitor assigned projects for compliance with all ed2go design standards.
Adhere to project development schedules as established in collaboration with the Course Development Manager.
Build positive relationships with assigned Learning Designers, Course Development Managers and Product Managers throughout the development process.
Accept additional projects as designated, which may include special projects inside or outside Content Development or Product.

Meetings

Actively participate in team meetings, trainings, discussions, and special initiatives to form team cohesion and keep multimedia skills sharp.

Research and Development

Assess the needs and expectations of our students and make recommendations to improve the experience learners have with our courses.

Train vendors and other content providers as necessary on performing Multimedia Design related tasks. Offer vendors ongoing support on projects being developed for ed2go.

Skills you will need here

Required:

Although temporary position, you must be available to work 37.5 hrs each week
Availability during regular business hours for work, zoom meetings, and collaboration with colleagues.
Bachelor's Degree required or equivalent experience.
4-6 years paid experience as an eLearning media designer, web designer, web developer, or multimedia developer.
HTML, CSS, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Adobe Premiere, After Effects, (Adobe Creative Suite) and/or other video and audio editing software
Superior project management skills and problem-solving skills with the ability to maintain high productivity amid competing priorities and tight deadlines are a must.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in the use of e-mail, Microsoft Windows, MS Office, and FTP.
Self-starter able to work independently as well as on a team, and with a strong desire for a career in web/multimedia/graphic design/elearning.

Preferred:

Experience with learning management systems, JavaScript, Captivate/Camtasia/Storyline, motion graphics, educational video development, mobile site development, app development, 3D applications.
Knowledge of Section 508 and WCAG Compliance.
