Job Description

GEICO is seeking a Distinguished Network Architect with a solid background in designing and implementation of large-scale Enterprise Network Solutions in Geographically dispersed data centers, multi-site architectures, private clouds, public clouds, and hybrid multi-cloud settings who will provide technical leadership in several network architecture areas of expertise and will be responsible for designing and developing and collaborating new initiatives to increase stability, reliability, and interoperability to increase regional synergy for GEICO's networks. He / She will collaborate with other functional and technology leaders to define and execute business priorities. Key responsibilities for the role include driving design and innovation in network architecture, network automation and public cloud environments Contribute to the network architecture strategy and roadmap for GEICO's Private/Hybrid/Public Cloud adoption including long-term network architecture scenarios in collaboration with stakeholders, partners, and customers. Innovation and emerging technologies: evaluate opportunities to drive significant improvements in underlying infrastructure and development of network automation infrastructure. Specification and execution of Proof-of-Concept (PoC) projects, lab trials, vendor/technology evaluation from concept to delivery with a focus on new technologies, particularly network automation across Hybrid/Multi Cloud environments to improve network availability and efficiency. Software development design recommendation for GEICO's Infrastructure as Code (IAC) efforts across Private/Hybrid/Multi Cloud environments. Vendor/customer/partner engagements in collaboration with the network engineering organization Influence enterprise technology selection and define High Level Design documentation for key technology initiatives. Demonstrating thought leadership through presentations across GEICO and providing subject matter expertise in interactions with partners and customers. Mentoring junior network architects and technologists. Managing oversight of multiple highly complex technology solutions based on a combination of vendors, custom solutions, and internal resources. Collaborate with network engineering, cyber security, and operations teams. Making recommendations on next-generation capabilities to support new business opportunities. Drive coordination, consensus, and execution to mitigate cyber risk issues and emerging threats in such a dynamic environment. Analyze network from a cost, capacity, and forecast perspective, and evaluate new network technologies and applications. Preferred Qualifications 10 or more years of work experience with a bachelor's degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced degree in Computer Sciences or Networking 8 years of experience in network architecture, engineering or development including experience in network automation frameworks, public cloud infrastructure deployments and solutions for service provider or large enterprise networks. Experience in cloud networking (public, private and hybrid/multi cloud) technologies, particularly in the context of AWS, Azure and GCP. Demonstrated experience with open-source infrastructure as code software and automation software development tools including Terraform, Terraform Enterprise, Env0, Git, Jinkins, Ansible, Python, Chef, Puppet or Salt. Experience in developing, configuring, and operating CI/CD pipeline tools. Demonstrated experience in public cloud migration/integration for AWS, GCP, Azure projects. A proven background and recent experience in modern networking architecture practice including experience in network design/operations for campus, datacenter, and WAN environments leveraging leading networking technologies across multi-vendor deployments (Arista, Cisco, Juniper.) Solid experience and technical understanding of IP and transport protocols, common routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP etc.), resiliency designs, traffic engineering, and QOS prioritization techniques. Experience integrating SD-WAN solutions as part of Hybrid Cloud approach in support of the enterprise (preferred multi-vendor experience) a plus. Understanding of large-scale network design practices and operational environments Good understanding of networking management tooling (fault, capacity, performance, configuration) and networking ancillary services. Experience with secure networking best practices, in particular: access control, segmentation, firewall, and VPN remote access. Experience in defining network performance monitoring and observability requirements. Understanding of compute virtualization in the Campus/DC/Cloud. Experience with application design patterns, enablement, and troubleshooting.
