AI Summary

Lead the product strategy and delivery for Hollander's salvage-industry solutions, balancing the maintenance of legacy products with the creation of a modern global platform. Manage a distributed team to drive integration strategy, define product requirements, and align stakeholders across multiple geographies.

Director, Product Management (Hollander)/Virtual, US

About the Company

Solera is a global leader in data and software services transforming every touchpoint of the vehicle lifecycle into a connected digital experience. Solera processes over 300 million digital transactions annually for approximately 235,000 partners and customers in more than 90 countries, supported by 6,500 team members worldwide.

Hollander, a Solera company, is the leading technology provider for the automotive salvage industry, offering inventory management, parts pricing, and e-commerce solutions to salvage yards and recyclers across North America and international markets.

Role Purpose & Strategic Context

This is a dual-mandate leadership role at the intersection of platform modernization and day-to-day product stewardship. The Director, Product Management will lead product strategy and delivery for Hollander’s salvage-industry solutions with two simultaneous imperatives:

  • Sustain and continuously improve the legacy products that run customer businesses today, protecting revenue and service continuity.
  • Define and execute a single modern global platform to replace multiple aging, at-risk systems across North America and International markets.

Business & Product Context

The salvage industry centers on end-of-life and accident vehicles: businesses acquire vehicles, extract usable parts (engine, body panels, mirrors, etc.), and resell through local dealer networks and e-commerce channels.

Key Responsibilities

PLATFORM VISION & TRANSFORMATION

  • Define product vision, target architecture outcomes, and a phased delivery roadmap for a single global platform replacement.
  • Champion a “single global product, locally adapted” approach: ensure the platform supports localization (taxes, currencies, time zones, language, region-specific rules) without losing core coherence.
  • Partner with Engineering and Data leaders on architecture trade-offs; maintain conceptual fluency in APIs, integrations, and data flows to drive productive technical conversations without acting as solution architect.

RUN & TRANSFORM (“TWO-SPEED” PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT)

  • Own the full product portfolio simultaneously: protect and enhance current legacy products while building the next-generation global platform in parallel.
  • Define clear prioritization frameworks that balance sustaining existing revenue-generating products with investing in the strategic transformation program.
  • Manage scope, sequencing, and customer migration planning — from legacy systems to the new platform — with minimal disruption to active customer operations.

INTEGRATION & WORKFLOW LEADERSHIP

  • Lead integration strategy and execution with third-party partners through platforms and APIs; own requirements and dependencies end-to-end.
  • Drive product requirements for workflow-heavy, integration-intensive environments; ensure data flows and partner dependencies are clearly defined for cross-functional teams.

PRODUCT DELIVERY & STAKEHOLDER ALIGNMENT

  • Create crisp, well-reasoned product requirements and priorities; ensure Engineering and Design teams have what they need to execute with confidence.
  • Lead complex multi-geography delivery with clear decision frameworks for standardization vs. localization trade-offs.
  • Define success metrics, launch measures, and migration KPIs; track and analyze product performance data to drive evidence-based decisions.
  • Partner with Product Marketing to develop sales enablement, customer onboarding, and go-to-market assets for both existing products and new capabilities.

TEAM & ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP

  • Lead a small, distributed, cross-geo team.
  • Provide strategic direction, clear prioritization, and stakeholder alignment under ambiguous, rapidly evolving organizational conditions.
  • Mentor and develop product managers and owners; set goals, provide coaching, and foster a results-oriented team culture.
  • Engage with partnership and acquisition opportunities that can accelerate market positioning.

Capability Profile

The following table summarizes the key capabilities assessed in this search, aligned with the hiring manager’s requirements:

Capability Area

What We're Looking For

Transformation & Platform Modernization

Proven experience driving complex platform transformation while sustaining legacy products (“run and transform”). Ability to build a single global product approach with localization (taxes, currency, time zones, language) without losing core platform coherence. Strong end-to-end product delivery leadership in complex, multi-geo environments with evolving constraints.

Workflow & Integration Leadership

Strong integration leadership with partners through platforms and APIs; comfortable in workflow-heavy product environments. Conceptual understanding of APIs, integrations, data flows, and architecture trade-offs to partner effectively with Engineering and Data leaders.

Senior Product Leadership

Classic PM progression into leadership with increasing scope and complexity. Exceptional at defining what should be built and why; does not need to be the solution architect defining how. Comfortable leading a small, distributed team with limited coverage; provides direction, prioritization, and stakeholder alignment through ambiguity.

Product Management Discipline

Strong command of PM fundamentals at both strategic and tactical levels. Educates and drives alignment on priorities. Masters business case construction, roadmap planning, Agile/EPIC-level execution, and data-driven product decisions.

AI Experimentation & Mindset

Evidence of experimentation with AI tools across multiple use cases: automation, productivity, writing, research, analytics, coding, and prototyping (“vibe coding”). Breadth of experimentation matters; no single tool required. Uses AI to move faster and better — not just to keep up.

High Agency & Resourcefulness

Self-starting, proactive, finds a way forward. Hands-on mentality when needed; willing to roll up sleeves in lean teams and transitions. Growth mindset: treats ambiguity and constraint as problems to solve, not blockers.

Industry Learning Agility

Salvage industry experience is a plus but not mandatory. Strong product leaders with high learning agility and genuine curiosity about domain specifics are equally considered. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of mastering new verticals quickly.

What You’ll Bring

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
  • 12+ years of Product Management experience in SaaS, with at least 4 years in a product leadership role.
  • Demonstrated track record leading platform modernization or transformation programs at scale, including managing a “run and transform” portfolio in parallel.
  • Experience delivering multi-geography products with localization complexity (currencies, taxes, time zones, languages, regional compliance).
  • Background in workflow-intensive, integration-heavy product environments; experience leading API/platform integration strategy with third-party partners.
  • Experience managing small distributed teams under ambiguous, evolving organizational conditions.
  • Automotive, vehicle lifecycle, or adjacent industry experience is highly desirable; salvage industry expertise is a plus, not a requirement.

TECHNICAL & ANALYTICAL FLUENCY

  • Proficient in mobile, web, and backend platform product management for total-solution delivery.
  • Conceptually fluent in APIs, integrations, data flows, and system architecture trade-offs — enough to be a strong, credible partner to Engineering without needing to define the “how.”
  • Experienced using analytics to define success metrics, measure product performance, and make data-based decisions.

LEADERSHIP & COMMUNICATION

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to align diverse cross-functional and cross-geo teams through ambiguity.
  • Strong product management discipline: exceptional at defining what should be built and why, with crisp requirements and clear prioritization.
  • Combines business acumen, customer empathy, and intellectual curiosity.

MINDSET & WORKING STYLE

  • High agency: resourceful, proactive, moves forward without waiting for perfect conditions.
  • Hands-on when needed; comfortable rolling up sleeves in lean team environments and organizational transitions.
  • Growth mindset: actively experiments, learns, and iterates — including with AI tools across automation, productivity, writing, research, analytics, coding, and prototyping.
