Responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for negotiating and managing vendor contracts across SonicWall, including without limitation contracts for the licensing of third-party technology/IP, manufacturing, IT, partnerships and strategic alliances, development collaborations, and other procurement transactions.
  • Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and other cross-functional groups to identify and secure licenses to third-party technology/IP or to have technologies developed to be included in or sold with SonicWall's products. This includes identifying and establishing OEM relationships.
  • Work with Product Management to formulate contingency plans to de-risk technical challenges and other partnership-related risks.
  • Develop the overall vision, strategy, and execution plan for licensing across all technology areas, driving an integrated long-term partner development process focused on delivering world-class quality, service, delivery, and cost. Work with internal partners to avoid any potential technical issues and quality problems which may affect production schedules.
  • Understand SonicWall's target markets and ecosystem and provide a meaningful contribution to SonicWall's product strategy. The role will act as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor in IP cost profiles and should-be cost models.
  • Negotiate and execute master agreements, including master license & service level agreements, development agreements, source code agreement, manufacturing/OEM agreements, and other critical procurement agreements in coordination with business owners.
  • Establish, manage, and own strategic supplier relationships at the supplier executive level.
  • Work on a broad range of disciplines, including intellectual property, licensing, competition, privacy, marketing, and regulatory issues.
  • Establish supplier selection criteria, evaluate alternative suppliers, manage RFI/Q processes, and drive final supplier selection in partnership with Product Managers, Engineering, and other internal business partners as needed.
  • Must own all aspects of technology transaction and carry out task by managing a cross functional team. For other procurement transactions, provide oversight and guidance.
  • Coordination with Legal, Finance, and various other business groups, as well as the executive team will be required.
  • Establish contract tracking and management system.

Required Qualifications:
  • 10+ years' experience in technical/IP licensing/tech transactions and contract negotiation.
  • Prior experience with and understanding of hardware and software business models, product development and life cycle matters, and open-source licensing.
  • Leadership, program management and cross-functional teamwork experience.
  • Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to influence all levels of management, work effectively and collaboratively cross-functionally, think practically and be solution oriented.
  • Experience operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in supplier evaluation/selection, should be cost models, contract negotiation, and supply base management preferred.

Nice to Have Qualifications:
  • Engineering degree strongly preferred.
  • Experience in evaluating companies and technology to support M&A activity preferred.
