Job DescriptionThe Director of Product Management is responsible for the strategic product management of the MyDestiny product and has the additional responsibility of User Experience and Research for Follett School Solutions and Baker Taylor's commercial product portfolio. The focus of this position is improving the quality and effectiveness of all user research capabilities within the organization and ensuring a consistent user experience. The Director, Product Management leads, manages, and mentors a team of User Experience and Product Designers. Working with or through these designers, the role will drive alignment around a compelling vision for how the user experience will solve customer problems and drive business growth.This position can be remote!Job DutiesDefine MyDestiny product vision, strategy and roadmap both internally and to external customers. Facilitate design thinking workshops, customer journey mapping, user testing and solution prototyping. Grow user research capabilities to enhance the knowledge needed to make informed product decisions.Lead a team that supports identifying market trends and new business opportunities within the educational and library technology landscape and assess competitive challenges and deliver clear strategic recommendationsPartners with Sales and Marketing to: 1) define Sales/Marketing strategies; 2) ensure the Sales force is prepared to effectively sell products; 3) capture customer insights, needs, and trends; 4) manage key customer relationships.Foster meaningful collaboration between UX, PLM, and software development to ensure all product team members contribute their expertise toward delivering the best customer solution. This includes being a strong partner with services team to define implementation and consulting strategies. Ensure final product meets customer needs.Leads and manages a team of software engineers/designers. Creates structure for UX team collaboration and communication. Manages and meets budget and operational goals.Requirements10+ years of related experienceMasters Degree or equivalent experience5-7 years working in a Software Development or IT Product Development team.A software design background is desirable. Strong leadership experience managing collaborative, productive and growth focused teams.Previous experience in the education spaceDemonstrated experience leading product enhancements and life cycle development within Division or Group.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
